as bad as they are they still had 212 mil in revenue and spent 70 on playersAnd the fine people of Las Vegas are about to pony up $300M+ for that.

The Oakland Athletics, who failed in their bid to elicit sufficient public funding from their home city, are banking on nearly $400 million in subsidies from the state of Nevada and Clark County to construct a $1.5 billion, 30,000-seat stadium for a franchise currently on pace to set a major league record for most losses in a season.
What a fucking scam
In theory, they move to Vegas and attendance goes way up and spending goes up and the team is able to improve quickly. The City of Oakland hasn’t done them any favors. They were pretty competitive as of a few years ago, too. The wheels have just fallen off the wagon with the Olson, Chapman, Murphy & Montas trades.

For Yankee fans it might be cheaper to fly to Vegas, get a hotel room and see a game there than pay for decent tickets at the StadiumIt's such a transient town though. I think they're dreaming with their estimated attendance numbers. A's are saying that their presence in Vegas will mean 400,000 more people will visit every year.
I thought this was a good article about how much smoke the A's are blowing up Las Vegas's ass.

Clark County should not lose $500 million for a baseball stadium with marginal tourism impact when private investors can back the idea.thenevadaindependent.com

Only 8 home football games per year and they play the Giants once every 3 years or so. The Yanks will probably play 3 games there every year and there's 81 home games so it likely won't be that bad.Probably not. I'm going out for the Giants/Raiders in November. $500 for pretty shitty seats.

I was thinking of going out there for the Jets game but it's a bit too close to my busy season at work. Thinking about seeing the Rangers there next year depending on the scheduleYeah, I'm sure I'll make that trip too, and you're absolutely right, a lot more demand for 8 games than 81.
Giants and Jets out there in consecutive weeks this year. Should be fun.
The “transient town” is the point, though. Tens of thousands of people in town for conferences every week means more people to go to the games on a whim. Just imagine if the team is actually better. Plus the A’s will become the #1 destination in baseball. I’m not sure it will work, but I know the Oakland Coliseum has already failed. It's such a transient town though. This is exactly how it works. You weren’t about to plan a trip to Oakland to see the Yankees. But you WILL plan to go to Vegas to see the Yankees. So will a zillion other people.Yeah, I'm sure I'll make that trip too, and you're absolutely right, a lot more demand for 8 games than 81.
