They should dock his pay…..
Managers sometimes like to make a spectacle and get thrown out when the team is playing like shit. It wakes up the team and rallies the guys(in theory). The Yankees have been playing well, though. What the hell is his issue?

Series win for the O’s, who realisitcally should have swept the Yanks.

Excellent road trip for them!

Rangers fan here. Figured since our teams are about to square off I'd ask the Orioles fans; what's the situation with Baltimore's starting pitching? On paper it doesn't look great (kinda like Texas' lousy bullpen), but they keep winning games.
Is y'all's pitching rotation better than the stats would indicate?

The stadium was radically changed in a bold analytic style vision. The grass seeding style, the wall height, the outfield site lines etc....
The left field wall was purposely moved back to complement the style of pitching especially. Everyone was skeptical and mad.

But, honestly the experiment seems to have worked.

The Orioles give up a ton of singles/doubles, but they don't get easily knocked out by crooked numbers over the LF fence.
And without the fear of LF homeruns, they don't walk as many guys either. There is far less danger of a bad pitch being a homer.

The starters will give up 4 runs in 5 inn, but it is a bunch of singles/doubles spread out. That keeps them in the game even if the ERA sucks.
Before they moved the wall the starters would walk guys and give up 3 run HRs. That gets you knocked out in the 3rd inning.

The Orioles have a great bullpen.
It translates to wins if the starters can go 5/6 innings instead of being knocked in the 3/4 innings.

It is some advanced crazy mad scientist money-ball stuff, but it translates to wins despite very mediocre starting pitching.

I would also suggest that the Orioles have a heckuva coaching staff at seemingly all levels of their organization, and routinely take middling pitchers on other teams and turn them into effective arms for the O’s. The list of these types over the last few years is pretty lengthy:

Cano, lopez last year’s all star closer, voth, wells, gibson this year, coulombe, lyles (now on royals), clionel perez, etc.

They have an organizational wide philiosophy that is taught and honed in the minors before it reaches the majors.

What honsstampede2.0 said is right though: there is not an overwhelming amount of talent in the starters, though the bullpen is significantly above average.

nice win tonight, if the Sox can pull off the sweep tomorrow they'll salvage a winning record on this west coast trip.

He needs to go back down to get his confidence back. His stuff is good, but he is getting tentative with his pitches.

Texas bullpen held down the O’s, armadilooutfield. You guys have a pretty dangerous team! Here’s hoping you take the division from the astros, and that the O’s dont have to play the Rangers in the first round!

Good series win for the Rangers; good luck the rest of the way!

Thanks man! You guys are pretty tough, too. Nice seeing the O's have a good season for the first time in a while.
Maybe both teams meet in the ALCS? One can hope.
