Meanwhile, "The Martian" has struck out 40 times in 150 ABs in AA. Guess we'll be waiting a while for this one.

:L

there were people talking about him cracking the Opening Day roster, but I don't think 2023 was ever realistic. It's rare to see anyone barely play above A+ and go to the majors unless they destroy minor league pitching (Juan Soto). Dominguez has hit well in the minors prior to this year, but not to that extent. Just remember, he's a 20-year-old in AA... he's one of the youngest at that level.

Also, look up Judge's minor league numbers......not that this guy is anywhere near what Judge is today......

Almost 4 years too young for the level, according to BRef anyway.

Really, outside of last year in hi A, his numbers have been pretty pedestrian-but that K rate this season is alarming

His numbers were very good for his age in relation to the rest of his levels. The K's are some cause for concern, but it's not uncommon for that to improve upon further exposure to AA pitching.

A+ to AA is arguably the biggest jump for hitters. I don't think you should be too worried about him just yet

IKF isn't a bad ballplayer. He can play multiple positions and do nicely defensively everywhere. He can hit a little bit also.

kind of a stretch... career 80 OPS+ is pretty mediocre even for a middle infielder. I do agree he's been a useful major leaguer (he was a ~2-3 WAR player three years in a row), but he's been especially bad at the plate so far (55 OPS+). Unless you're a Mark Belanger-esque defensive player, it's hard to provide any real value hitting that poorly

He is an adequate player at multiple positions that can run a bit, hit a little (emphasis on little) and play very well on defense.
2-3 WAR is adequate for a starting player in the majors.

O’s are legit. Good lineup, 1-9. Depth.
Great bullpen.

Gonna be a ridiculous season in the AL East.

I was just talking about this recently. When Judge came up, nobody really took him seriously. Hell, you can probably go back on this thread to see how he was viewed. He was a strikeout machine and he was wildly overmatched. Now compare him to the hype surrounding Volpe, Phil Hughes, Joba or “The Martian” etc…. Judge has gotten the last laugh.
