Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique, foot, hip) has begun running and hitting according to Yankees manager Aaron Boone.
Ellsbury was transferred from the 10-day to the 60-day disabled list on Wednesday, but Boone told reporters that he could be returning to the field within the next 10 days. Because he's on the 60-day disabled last, the earliest he'll be eligible to return is the end of May. May 2 - 8:04 PM:suds:

Thanks. He'll probably end up with another set back or someone else will get hurt before he comes back. It's just the way things happen. Frazier is still struggling and once Drury comes back he may end up playing some outfield like he did in Arizona. They have a log jam in the infield with Andujar and Torres up now. Unless they pull off some kind of trade.

Huge logjam, and Bird is supposed to start rehab games this week.

Once he's back, even if they send down Austin, there's still too many infielders.

I can see them releasing Walker and sending down Austin. They don't seem to want to give Austin that much of a chance. The guy has 16 RBI's in 18 hits so either he's getting them when it counts or they're picking the perfect moments.

It's also too early for teams to really look for trades so even with a back log of young talent I'm not sure what they do. These things usually end up working themselves out one way or another

Austin's really the only one with options, so he's gonna be the one to go. Walker they'd have to DFA, unless he accepted a minor league assignment which I doubt. He's also showing some signs of life the last few games.

Too many good players! Good problem to have.

Real good problem to have. Andujar has options too so if he slumps they may send him when Drury comes back. I can't see Glaybar going anywhere. By buddy's cousin is the batting coach for the Rangers but he worked with the Cubs for 3 years prior to getting the Texas job. When the Yanks got Torres he couldn't believe the Cubs let him go. Called it an absolute steal.

When pasta posts people listen, ellsbury is the man for the job... 30 30 guy for Red Sox championship year... Frazier wet behind the ears!

I like the dual thing Pure, knowing Gardner, he’ll miss ells and hit judge!

Ells has only hit 10 Homer's twice in his career.

Plus the year he went 30/30 the Red Sox finished last.

Realistically I'm hoping for the Sox to win the Porcello start and that's about it. Was telling Dirt that Price should start taking notes from CC. Going to have to up his control as his velocity diminishes.

And Pomeranz is just going to get shelled.

I still have confidence in Sale, even yesterday he managed to get out of jams and keep runs off the board. Price I have not much confidence in, his early starts gave me hope but now it's more of the same.

How great is the AL East? This is the best combo of Red Sox/Yankees teams in a long time and of course then there's the Jays.

Bro, that was 8 years ago, and it was an aberration.

He's a .700 OPS guy. If he's lucky.

I'm still waiting to see if the Yanks can sustain this. Last year they had the 2nd best record in the league going into June and then went completely in the tank for 5 or 6 weeks. They turned it around and made the wild card but I still haven't forgot that stretch where they went something like 8 - 23

And "aberration" is being gentle. The skeptic in me says he was taking something.

Walker starting to hit, Austin turning back into Austin, I think its a lock that Austin is sent down at this point

It may be time to say goodbye to the mascot

I know it could hurt team morale, but they can let him sit in the front row of games if they want him around

Certainly looks suspicious now that we have his whole career to look at.

Such a terrible signing. And to think we sent you guys a 1st round draft pick on top of it.

Lucky our GM has removed his head from his ass since then.

He's really grown on me, but you have to think Drury has the higher upside.
