Being a yankee fan and seeing how big of a lead they had in this division I was very comfortable at one point. But now coming into this weekend if the Yankees ever get swept out of Tampa this weekend they can kiss the division title away if you ask me.

0 runs scored but this will somehow be all Aaron Boone fault to some on here. Zero responsibility on the players

Darwinzon has pitched only 6.2 innings and he's nearly cost them one full WAR (-0.9). I don't think I've ever seen such a low WAR in so few innings. It's hard to argue, he has been putrid (14 hits, 17 R, 16 ER, 8 BB, 9 K, 3.30 WHIP, 12.72 FIP).

4HRs and 21.6ERA will do that. Hell I think I could match those numbers and I'll ask for mych less $$$

Boone should be gone as of today . PERIOD!

And not for any other reason than to spark the team before it’s too late. Which it might be already.

Put it on the players , cause Boone let it get too far.

It seems to me that the Yankees problem is that each player has a hole in their swing or a hitch in their mechanics, other than Judge who is having a phenomenal season, and that very few of them have been fixed, or worked on, or adjusted throughout the season.

It’s poor coaching and execution.

No?

1 run in the last 22 innings
Said it many times, but this Yankees team can only score when they are hitting HR’s. Stanton, Donaldson, Rizzo and Hicks are all hitting around .220(and those are heart-of-the order guys). They can’t be expected to get rallies going with that group.

Judge is having an amazing year, but Booney batting him leadoff is hilarious.

Maybe banging on the table again is what Boone needs to do to get his team motivated again?

I’m not going to lie: I watch the scoresheet with fascination at how quickly the Yankees are going down with the ship.

Would it be the worst collapse of all time? One of you statheads probably knows the answer to this already.

They were on pace to shatter the wins record. Up by 15.5 games. Now they have a legitimate chance to lose the division.

Crazy.

I would doubt too many teams have blown a 15.5 game lead. I’m sure there are some examples, but I can’t recall a case like that.

but still make playoffs with all the WCs
this is the biggest collapse lead wise
1995 angels
  1. With an 11.5 games lead on August 9, the Angels were playing their best baseball in nearly a decade.
But the team went 12-27 in their final 39 games—which included winning five straight to end the season— allowing the Seattle Mariners to catch them.
The teams ended the season tied, forcing a one-game playoff in Seattle. Randy Johnson completely shut down the Angels in a 9-1 victory with 12 strikeouts.

then this this which is the biggest choke

1: 1964 Philadelphia Phillies

  1. The collapse by which all are measured.
The Phillies led by 6.5 games with 12 to go, yet lost 10 in a row.
Much of the blame—and rightly so—fell on the shoulders of manager Gene Mauch who started pitchers Jim Bunning and Chris Short in seven of the team's final 10 games, with six of those starts coming on two days rest. The Phillies lost all of them.
This epic collapse is known as "The Phold."
