Yeah, the deadline deals don't look quite so impressive 1 month removed.

Crazy how good Monty has looked. I really would love to hear the back story behind that trade someday.

Another reliever the Yankees failed to protect in the Rule 5.

Relievers are the one thing the Yanks crank out and they can't protect everyone. The pen is a bit of a mess right now but Holmes is hurt, they lost King and Green for the year and Loaisiga was bad and then hurt but was more than solid last year. He's been a bit better of late. They have Marinario (1.72 era), Peralta (2,45 era, 1.05 whip) Abreu who's been exposed now that he's moved into a more important role but had an era under 2 up until about 2 weeks ago.
Relievers are the one and only thing Cashman has an eye for, unlike starters. He couldn't pick a good starter at gunpoint.
