I love the Boston media. This is a serious article. Really.

■ “Trout,” said a longtime National League scout. “Analytics may favor Mookie, I love both, but Trout never cools.”
No, analytics do not favor Mookie.
“I’d go with Trout,” said a National League evaluator. “Close though. Betts is a year younger and has a better OPS over the last two years.”
No, he doesn't, and it's not particularly close.

luckily NY never does this■ “Trout,” said a longtime National League scout. “Analytics may favor Mookie, I love both, but Trout never cools.”

I see that Rock got a job with the Boston Globe.....Article is for lining a bird cage......■ “Trout,” said a longtime National League scout. “Analytics may favor Mookie, I love both, but Trout never cools.”

I agree as good as mookie is he isn’t on the same level as troutMookie is great, but I don't see him comparing to Trout.

He clearly has no ability.....
*Pitcher, not batter. Ugh.I never said he doesn't have any ability, just that he wasn't as sharp as the no-hit bid would suggest. 5 walks in 5 innings is a lot. Sometimes a batter has crap command and the balls put in play find gloves.

I never suggested he was sharp....The kid has good stuff and looking at the Yankees pitching, I'd gladly take him....I never said he doesn't have any ability, just that he wasn't as sharp as the no-hit bid would suggest. 5 walks in 5 innings is a lot. I wouldn't say JD has been a major component in the Red Sox hot start. But it's sure good to see him heating up.
Idk, a 145 wRC+ is pretty damn good. It's in line with what he was hitting from 2014-17. It is nice to see them getting contributions elsewhere, particularly Hanley. It will be interesting to see how the option situation unfolds if he continues to hit. I expect him to regress, but I do think a healthy Hanley can hit in line with 2016. JBJ has been making a lot of good contact and I expect his numbers to improve. That .245 BABIP will only go up and his infield flyball rate will only go down. I expect Devers to have some struggles, but I don't think it's unreasonable for him to finish the season with a .273/.338/.500 line.
