But JD's numbers have jumped to that level because he has been hitting very well recently. When they finished with the Yanks to go to 10-2 his OPS was .726 with only 2 dingers, one was meaningless in a blowout. He's playing great now, no surprise, but to say he was a key to the hot start just isn't necessarily true. They got off to this hot start because of their starting pitching first, Bogarts early and of course Betts.

Hanley has been a huge surprise, what a boost that would be. JBJ is what he is, a great center fielder who is an incredibly streaky hitter. I'm fine with that from the 9 spot in this lineup. Devers, now that's a guy I love. The ball just jumps off his bat, I expect him to continue to improve.

fair enough. I'd be pretty damn happy if Jackie matches his Steamer projection (.255/.338/.434, 102 wRC+, 2.2 WAR)

Solid win for the Yanks with CC on the mound.

I like their chances of winning 3 of 4 this weekend now

They're going to regress. They're not going to continue scoring 6+ runs per game and allow under 3 runs per game. No baseball team's that good. But the Sox are in a good position to make the playoffs in some shape or form. Even if they go just .500 from here on out, that gets them to 88-74. There's a good chance that gets them one of the WC spots. Baseball Prospectus does project the Yanks to finish 1 game ahead (96-66 to 95-67) while Fangraphs has the Sox tied with the Astros at 100 wins apiece while the Yanks finish at 94-68.

Yanks are in huge trouble if this is what they're going to get from Gray this year.

Severino- Ace type starter
Tanaka- Pitches more like a 3/4.
Gray- Pitching like a guy who shouldn't be starting every 5th day
CC- Pitching like a #5. Barely giving the team any length.
Montgomery- Pitching like a #4

So basically with what I've seen from the starters this year, Sevy is the only one pitching like a #1 or 2. The other 4 are pitching like back end/guys who shouldn't be in the rotation.
