Good signing, but peculiar. Once Pedroia comes back he's not going to play a ton.

One year deal, with an option, for an eventual depth piece. Makes sense, that's what those guys should be getting.

And Pedroia is coming back from a knee, that's not gonna be easy. Nunez there for insurance if Pedroia isn't right, or Hanley, Bogaerts, or Devers get hurt.

Last 3 years he's played 327 games with a slash line of .296/.332/.443/.774, 106 OPS+, while being a base stealing threat and playing 3rd, short, left, and second.

Honestly surprised a guy like that didn't get a multi-year deal.
