I figured the Sox would move Nick Yorke at the deadline as he’s blocked in the Majors by a lot of guys. What I didn’t expect is that they would trade him for a complete stiff. I thought he could have been used for a better piece.

Priester is only 23 and was a top 100 prospect himself. He has work to do but he's made improvements this season.

I'd be more wary if Yorke was a long term infielder, but he looks like a corner OF. That's not to say I don't like his bat.

Sometimes prospects don’t pan out. This guy has been pummeled so far. I thought they were going to make some upgrades. Paxton and Jansen aren’t the answers.

Priester's stuff plays at the major league level, but he has not shown much consistency to this point.

I'm happy with the trade, as the Pirates have virtually no hitting prospects in the upper minors right now, unless one still counts Henry Davis.

I'd say the jury's out. ~100 innings isn't a lot. It can take several years for top 100 pitching prospects to figure things out. Buchholz was rough in 2008. Eduardo Rodriguez took some time. I do like Priester's ground ball rates, though he's had a HR problem. He's cut the walks down. Not a lot of K's, but he had good rates in the minors.

I wouldn't be shocked if neither amount to much of anything. I do like Yorke, but it doesn't seem like he had an obvious position between the infield prospects and Rafaela/Duran. There's not a lot of high upside among the pitching prospects, at least not in the upper minors. I think it's worth the flier. It'll likely be a few years before we know who wins this one IMO

Wheeler throwing BP tonight. That’s not ideal.

He settled down now
With his 3 HRs tonight and his 4 HRs given up vs. Baltimore this year Wheeler has given up 7 HRs to the AL East in starts. In all other 19 starts he has given up 7 HRs total.

Boone has to challenge that Schwarber slide. Dude really fucked up there. That’s at least one run on him not challenging.
