In the 22 seasons since the wild card was introduced in 1995, 19 teams have made the playoffs in the AL when they were out of the playoffs at the trade deadline. This has occurred in 13 of the last 16 seasons as well.

As of now, the AL playoffs would be the Astros, Indians, Red Sox, Yankees, and Royals. If the trend continues, at least one of those teams won't make the playoffs.

No offense but I'm hoping it's the Red Sox lol. I'm just happy to be in the race to win the division after the last few years.

Unbelievable how the Rays let that one get away last night. Kevin Cash is way too in love with the shift and just needs to let his guys play straight up. Hech needs to take charge on that ball but Beckham needs to be backing it up in case he can't get there. Absurd play by those guys. Rays "fans" here in Tampa this morning losing their minds proclaiming the season is over while still only 3 games back in the division. It's pretty comical.

LMAO season is far from over. One bad week from the sox, yanks, or royals and 1 good week from the rays put them in the WC lead and close to the division lead in the east

Don't be surprised to see Clint Frazier get a high and tight fastball on his next AB. Yes he smoked that ball, but you can't stand at home plate and watch it when you have only played about 25 MLB games.

Twitter will not play on my work computer. The one view looked to me like he was admiring the home run before he took off around the bases.

I would say slightly. Don't think it is anything that would make a pitcher give him some high cheese. Now if he does it more frequently then that's a different story

Yanks end the 1st half by going 0-7-1 in their final 8 series. Been a month since they last won a series.

BTW they start the 2nd half on a 11 game roadtrip which will ultimately decide if they're buyers or sellers come the trade deadline

Well this has been a nice turnaround. Went 6-5 on their 11 game road trip and is currently 10-5 since the ASB. 8-2 in their last 10 and 9 games over .500

Even if the Rays agreed with me, IMO they did the best thing they could about and stroke him out his next AB. As soon as I saw the Rays bring in that sidearm throwing lefty for the 8th, I knew you were right and I was wrong and this discussion.

Who knows though? Still 2 games left in the series. We'll know if they took offense by the end of the series on sunday

Orioles acquired Hellickson??

I sort of figured they would be sellers not buyers

But, it only cost them some nobody pitcher stuck with a 7 ERA in double-A.

The cost is negligible, but I am not sure if this is for the long term or what.

Maybe they are trying to package (hellickson + Britton) as a deal for the Cubs or somebody??
