In the 22 seasons since the wild card was introduced in 1995, 19 teams have made the playoffs in the AL when they were out of the playoffs at the trade deadline. This has occurred in 13 of the last 16 seasons as well.
As of now, the AL playoffs would be the Astros, Indians, Red Sox, Yankees, and Royals. If the trend continues, at least one of those teams won't make the playoffs.
No offense but I'm hoping it's the Red Sox lol. I'm just happy to be in the race to win the division after the last few years.
