What others did before him? That's funny. He's not the GM, he's the manager.

I'm not saying he's HOF worthy. I'm not even saying that he's good. All I'm saying is that your reasons for saying he's bad are stupid.

my reasons are understood by those who played the game...

showalter wasn't the GM of yankees either, but somehow his name is mentioned as the one responsible for the yankees success after he was fired, while watson the actual GM, to this day is hardly mentioned.

Betances is so damn nasty

He's the one guy on that team I'm consistently in awe of. Dude could have more Ks than a lot of starters by the end of the year as a middle reliever. I hate when he comes in against the Jays.

That's because it's Stick who gets mentioned, it was his team.

You're ill-equipped for these discussions.

this team goes no where with girardi, i can longer watch the game because of him.... the days off, the constant babying of his players, how many games yanks have runners in scoring position less then 2 outs and they fail to score, .. and yea, i get it he's not at the plate, but if they had a leader who demands respect of his players you bet your azz they would be afraid to come back into that dugout!

Bingo!

I like me a little Past Fazul!

My dads favorite ever Italian dish

Who mentions Buck as the one responsible for the Yankees' success? Gene Michael is the one who always gets the credit, considering he was responsible for the Yankees getting Jeter, Rivera, Pettitte, O'Neill, in addition to resisting trading Bernie away when Steinbrenner wanted to trade him.

My lasting memory of Buck, the Yankees manager, was him absolutely doing everything he could to hand the Mariners the 1995 playoff series

And he succeeded

We are what we have been for a few years now. An average team.

bring in new leadership, i betcha this team would compete. How long is it gonna take for girardi to realize gardner is not a leadoff guy? Geez, i didn't watch 2 minutes of game, the feel of it when i tuned in, same ole same ole boring baseball.

still think this doesn't reflect on the coach?

Nope. Blaming the manager for guys not being able to hit is pretty stupid. The team is just not that good as @obxyankeefan said. It is a mediocre offense who can only produce when they're hitting the long ball. Blame Cashman if you want to blame anyone

This was the first game Gardy led off. Ellsbury is always the leadoff guy so I have no idea what you're talking about. Who is he supposed to bat leadoff in games that Ellsbury is out? Headley lol

FTR, Gardner is batting .308 with an OBP of .438. Pretty fine for a spot leadoff hitter if you ask me considering our current leadoff hitter is batting .213 with an OBP of .260
