This is a stunner. Tribe in full cost control mode apparently.

In another stunning move, the White Sox have plucked 90 year old Tony La Russa from a retirement home to manage the team.....

Wow. Did not see this coming.

And he's taking over a team right on the cusp, shades of Joe Torre, eh?

Yup, but Torre was a spring chicken of 56 when he took over the Yankees.....

Not a stunner to Indians fans. Dolan is an old, cheap fuck.

Would love if they sent Dolan to a retirement home and sell the damn team. He's been holding back Cleveland for decades...CoV1d isn't helping now as well.

Surprised by both of these moves. LaRussa is still relevant, but he is not going to be a long-term solution on the Sox' bench.
Hand is a very good reliever and should find a job really soon.

Nice knowing you Lindor. Great player but tbh he just isn't worth $200M at this point but it's not like he ever had a chance to be an Indian for life with this cheap ass owner. They better get max value for him, one future star and 2-3 other young players.

So old Tony got himself another DUI, and apparently Reinsdorf was aware, overruled his GM and hired him anyway.

And the manager they forced out is a finalist for manager of the year.

Just like they drew it up!

i have faith they will do well trading Lindor.

I mean did you see Clevinger? the Tribe got 6 guys for him 3 solid prospects, a guy in Cal Quintrell who was a former top 10 pick with real talent that could become a starter or a nice piece out of the bullpen, Naylor who will likely be a solid cheap outfielder for a few years with the Tribe, ad Hedges who is a decent backup catcher that i would not be surprised if they packaged with Lindor.

For Kluber they got Clause---- Kluber pitched 1 inning before getting hurt, and Clause, after his insanely stupid (him being stupid) suspension was htrowing 101 in the fall league.

Seems they know how when to get rid of guys and get some value. With only 1 year of Lindor they are definitely not going to break the bank, but if they can get a good hitter and a couple good prospects id be satisfied. it would be great to keep him but giving him 30 million a ear seems like it would be not only an overpay, but on the 10 year deal he will likely command is a huge risk.

dont get me wrong- the guy could be a hall of famer and one of the best in baseball the next 5 years- but the Tribe cant pay 1 guy 30+ million. Not only that but Jose Ramirez has been consistently better the last 3 years.

I hope they can someone re-sign Hernandez for 2nd base, and fill some holes with Lindor. With Karinchak and Clause in the bullpen they should have a good foundation there---

and there young SP is great. Obviously they have Bieber, Carrasco, Plesac, Civale, McKenzie, but there is also plenty of other young starters that other teams would be thrilled to get--- Plutko is a decent 4th 5th man that is cheap that another team would like. Quintrell has talent. Cantillo looks like a nice prospect from the Padres. Moss and Logan Allen are both guys from the Bauer deal who will be major league arms in someones rotation before long. Hankins is a young prospect and former 1st rounder and has a great ceiling but carries risk.
