Hell of a talent, but the injury history is very scary. He's in his 7th MLB season and he's played only 459 games, which isn't even three complete seasons. He's played one season with over 100 games and that was in 2017 (140 G). And that's probably not something that will get better as he gets older either, so he should take the money.

Love retirements that last less than 24 hours.

I don't think he will. Buxton is still pissed off about the Twins keeping him in the minors in 2018 (while other, less talented players were September call-ups) to keep his free agency clock pushed back. As it is, he won't be a free agent after 2022 instead of this offseason because they made, what in his view, is a dick move.

He'd be smart to jump on it. This next season might be locked out and he isn't likely to have a ton of better offers thrown at him afterwards.

They increased their offer to over $80MM. The door is not closed by either side and, hopefully, a deal can be reached. I would love to see what Buxton can do in a full, healthy season. He could be an MVP candidate.

Buxton is back on the field in the Twin Cities now -- for St. Paul. His rehab assignment started tonight.

He also has a shot at joining the 3000 hit club before the end of the season. If he does, he'd be the first player to ever reach that and 500 home runs in the same season.

He needs 42 hits in 34 games, he would have to get very hot.

He is hitting .295/.354/.475 since June 5. .310/.393/.598 since July 24

But yeah, I think he'll fall just short.

It is doable, but would require him to go on quite a tear -- nothing he hasn't done in the past.
