HAHA the funniest part about this(or is it the sadest?) is that he legitimately does have 30-40 other things that could compete with that statement on a stupidity level.

Theres no way there can be a stupider comment than that.

tigers sweep the royals. verlander was verlander. his last inning after 100 plus pitches.KC scratched a couple runs off him...of course with a big lead it didn't matter then.. but you ERA weinnies go ahead and figure that in as important.

haven't heard royal fan telling us how great Hosmer is going to be great lately.maybe they see the light on him

Hosmer is a streaky hitter.
I see him finishing with 20-25 hrs, hit around .300 and knock in 90.

If ERA was the only stat that mattered, Jack Morris would never have collected 254 career wins.

Its not. WHIP is pretty nice as well. Wins are a reflection of a good pitchers abilities on a good team. Jack morris pitched for some good teams. Put jack morris on a team like the 2014 cubs and he could be 0-3 with a 1.9 ERA like samardzija.

True. Also part of Morris' high career ERA was his stubbornness. If the Tigers got something like a 7-3 lead, he'd stay in the game even if he didn't have his best stuff, and give up 2 more runs. But often in the process, he'd get a CG and save his bullpen. His ERA also bloated in his last couple seasons, when he should have been retired.

True his ERA would be 3.73 instead of 3.90 if not for the last two years of his career. And it's a great point about him staying in longer than he should have many times. It's funny how Jack doesn't really get any respect from people, I thought he was a pretty dominating pitcher in his day.

175 career complete games for Morris, including 154 for the Tigers during the "Captian Hook" (Sparky Anderson) era. Always threw lots of innings, year in and year out. What he did to keep the bullpen fresh was very important, but often overlooked.

Yeah but pitchers pitched 9 innings more back in those days.

Was a great convo on high heat today about todays baseball and too many pitchers in the BP. I think it was p gammons who said hed rather see the starters have to pitch longer no matter what...instead of bringing in lefty to face lefty and then bringing in the righty....giving the hitters chances to face the starters more. They were remembering games where teams would win 10-5 and the starters would stay out there still getting 6-7 innings.......their views stated all the pitching changes are what slows games down....managers going out stalling so someone can get warmed up..

I loved the old days of morris.....he would go 8-9 it seems all the time...not to mention closers who could pitch more than one inning...

I think Guillermo Hernandez threw 140 innings out of the pen in 1984.

BUT...(read slow if you have to) IF he was on a team like the Patriots or broncos.... he would win play offs games! never said he was better than those 2. besides. Brady is a MICHIGAN MAN how can a non Michigan man measure up to that???

No actaully he would not Dougie. You said it yourself. He needs a WR to go with CJ. Brady and Manning do not. They make a WR look all pro then go elsewhere to only be pedistrian. Stafford does not make his weak ass WR's better. They do. Wait and see what Decker does the next few years.

You said super bowls... not playoffs little different there.

Screw Hosmer. His best season was his rookie year, when he hit 19 homeruns in 128 games. He helped my fantasy team win a title and I suckered myself into drafting him the next two years waiting to see that elite prospect everyone talked about.

My guess is -- he will do pretty much what he has the last couple years. Hit 15-20 homeruns and be a gap hitter. I just don't see him being a guy that is going to hit for much power.

Like Gandy said, you said Super Bowl, Brady hasn't made the Super Bowl for a couple years now so what you were saying is if they had Stafford instead they would. I would say read slow if you have to but I have no doubt you read slow.
