'Tis but a scratch...
As of today, I have the ALC looking a lot like last year, with just the Royals and Indians switching places.
Tigers
Royals
Indians
Twins
White Sox
Sorry, I don't see any major changes to the White Sox that scare me. Minnesota got some legit starting pitching in Hughes and Nolasco, but those guys would just be a #5 on the Tigers staff. Cleveland is a crap shoot because of their youth, but Francona will keep them competitive. The Royals have the pitching to push the Tigers all year, but Detroit is still the team to beat. Any loss of power is offset by the fact that they won't be as much of a station-to-station team on the bases. Plus, they are better on defense. This team suffered a down power year from Fielder, brutal first halves from Avila (.172) and Martinez (.232); they were minus-6 in 1-run games and minus-7 in extra innings, and their top hitter was injured the last 6 weeks and only hit two homers in September; they put a minor-league team on the field for the last 5 games after they clinched, and still won 93 games.
My two biggest concerns for the Tigers are bullpen depth and Smyly's durability as a starter, but the other teams in the division have far more concerns than that.
I reserve the right to change my predictions at the end of spring training.
