Not definitely, but looking that way. Torn triceps.

Can't imagine the odds are better than 50/50 that he'll be back for the playoffs - and even if he is he may not be 100%. I'm chalking this up to a tough loss. A lot of our guys need to seize their opportunities.

Gonna be a long haul, man.

That injury hurts.

Dammit.

Grrrr!!

I was saying all offseason depth at DE was probably the 2nd biggest need on the team behind WR. RJF cannot handle DE duties. He's a good backup NT, but that's about it.

I'm wondering if maybe Cam Johnson could play a little DE. Without Justin, the Niners' D is no longer the most dominant unit in the NFL, and I wouldn't give them very good odds to win the SB. Especially with Mario out too.

Unfortunately, the toughest post-season games the Niners will potentially play are BEFORE the SB. If the nIners get there without him, then he'd have 2 more weeks to heal. But it's going to be EXTREMELY hard to beat the Packers without him. And either way, it's looking like the Packers are the divisional round opponent the Niners will face.

Justin Smith will be the reason we don't win a playoff game this year.

For awhile, it was Alex, until Kaep came along. Now it's Justin. ;) Just kidding, I think we could win one game with either. My Super Bowl predictions for any QB, any WR, any TE, any RB, etc. was based upon Justin Smith playing. Now, we'll just have to see what happens with the injury.

I'd rather...

....gulp...

Go into the playoffs with no Kaep & Noodle Arm at QB than with Kaep & no Justin.

2nd biggest need for depth or position overall?

Doesn't matter who the QB is in this garbage offense (find somewhere else Roman, please). I prefer Kaep because of his ability to extend plays and look downfield.

Won't matter without J. Smith. He's the key to our defense. If he's not there, we can't beat playoff teams.

I pay most attention to QB and then WRs, obviously, but even I know how important Justin Smith is to us, the most valuable Smith in the league. Heck, the most valuable DE in the league, right?

Overall. The team was already set with starters (I should have said Non-QB postions; QB is still the team's biggest need IMO).

Yep, I meant we could win one against say, Minnesota, but not necessarily would. I agree with both paragraphs, by the way.

At this point, I'd put Ngata ahead of Justin. And JJ Watt is obviously the top DE in the NFL right now.

Justin is probably the 2nd most important player on the entire team behins Aldon right now IMO.

That's what threw me off, thanks for the clarification. I knew QB was one of, if not, your biggest need of the offseason.

Honestly, I think we're one and done right now. I don't see us beating anybody in the playoffs except Atlanta, and we won't make it to that game.

Man, I know you guys know more than I do, but I knew that. I just forgot to take off my homer glasses.

Except that Aldon is useless without Justin.

Haha, picking on the never-been's. However, I agree on Atlanta, but I know they could beat some team (just not us necessarily). Not sure if they will beat someone. Can they now say they're beyond the first round now that they (Falcons) won the first seed)?

That's silly. Aldon is one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL regardless of what team for which he's playing.

With Justin Smith - 19.5 sacks.

Without Justin Smith - Totally irrelevant.

I don't see what's silly here. Aldon has been invisible since Justin went down.

No - in 2010 they were not a WC team
