Duke is pretty much eliminated from winning the ACC already. Even if Cuse loses to them and UVA they will still be behind Cuse and UVA.

Anybody can win the ACC tournament, though.

Does the ACC give recognition to the team with the best record on the regular season?

I'm not a fan of a regular season champion unless everyone plays each other twice. IMO the regular season is for seed placement and that's about it.

Does the ACC give hardware out for the regular season Champ?

No, the ACC does not officially recognize a regular season Champ.

They give the regular season leader a ten inch trophy and the #1 seed in the ACC Tournament though.

That doesn't sound good....

Well, the Cuse could get a 12 inch one after Ennis hits that shot last night. Either way, Cuse has it. Only UVA can throttle them now. 5 games in 10 days will be all that the Devils can muster.

5 games in 10 days is beyond brutal. You can bet SU will cut your boys some slack.

Pittsburgh was able to make it to Chapel Hill for their game today. Something tells me Duke didn't want to play a game in the Smith Center with just students and no season ticket holders in attendance.

Care to explain how Duke couldn't make it to Chapel Hill in 5.5 hours?

What kind of bullshit logic makes a team that has a tip off time at 9pm, miss their dinner schedule, get on a bus that can't move out at the scheduled time, get stalled in snow traffic risking an accident, and travel over to the Dean Dome and sit around for over 5 hours waiting on a game that could potentially be canceled?

And quite frankly, you shouldn't be giving Duke grief about not showing up at the Dean Dome for the game last night. Hell, Carolina hasn't shown up the last 10 out of 15 games they've played there either.

I'm good with cancelling the game. It's not a matter is one team bus can show up; it's a matter if the folks who enjoy the excellence of play can get there. Let's not have anyone dying in an accident because they had a problem getting to the game.

So Pitt can show up but Duke can't make it? Duke cancelled they classes early in Durham but didn't want to change their travel arrangements? Obviously they knew the weather was going to be bad. And, do you really think it's rare for teams to sit around in visiting cities for five hours before a game? It's not.

That's a good point, but the ACC policy is to play all games that teams, officials, game operations people can get to so I'm not sure why Duke decided to delay their attempt to get there.

Fwiw, I think a lot of people were going to skip out on the game.

"Duke's bus is not able to get to their campus to pick up the team in time to be able to make the trip to Chapel Hill so we can't play this evening," says Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham. "The safety of the teams and officials is the number one priority and this was the best decision to make at this time. Coach Williams, Coach Krzyzewski, (Duke AD) Kevin White and I will be on the phone with the ACC and make a decision as to when to play the game as soon as possible."

They canceled classes at 12:50pm, but I don't see how that had anything to do with whether they played the game or not. The State Highway Patrol was busy trying to clear the thousands of stalled cars in the Triangle so I'm sure that may have had something to do with them not being able to escort the team bus as usual. Whether Pitt could play a specific game and show up has nothing to do with it. The Georgia Tech and Boston College game was postponed as well. They had both teams and officials present. Did that have anything to do with the decision or do you think it had to do with the deterioration of the road conditions? I think it silly to believe that Duke's team didn't care to play the game in front of whomever could make it to the game or not. Bottom line is the safety of everyone involved like AD Bubba Cunningham states.

Yea, Duke just didn't want to play the game as scheduled. I'm sure the bus wouldn't have had any problems at all.

Facts are cool and all douggie........

But this ^^^^^ is the douggie we all love. The proper douggie is out during football season, but douggie unchained is allowed to roam during bball games.

Can't wait for SUs trip into Cameron.

Brilliant insight! I am sure Duke said "hey let's cancel this one so that we get to play 9 games in 7 days next week that gives us a better chance of winning every one of them! Rest is bad these kids are too young to feel tired!"
