Well that is certainly a different side of the story. But we don't know why the coaches felt he could play, even though he felt he could not. His ankle certainly looked OK while he was doing jumping jacks half naked!

There was a lot of speculation on social media that AB's mind has never been the same since he took the big hit from Burfict.

But I think this guy was always crazy, and may indeed be bipolar or suffering from some other serious mental condition that he is not being properly treated for.

I do worry we will hear more from him--more police blotter type stuff from him.

Yeah I'm not sure why @broncosmitty continues to blame the team. Rappaport is reporting that it was Brown who didn't want to go in the game. How can the team be seen as denying him the opportunity to reach his incentives? Seems pretty obvious that Brown did that to himself, first with the fake vax card and then refusing to enter a game where he had already been targeted 5 times.

Makes more sense why he threw his fit then. Bucs probably just tired of his bullshit.
Most players want to help their team win and even push themselves to play injured... So I'm not sure I'm buying this

That report makes a lot more sense than just some made up shady dealings. If a player thinks he's too hurt to play, most guys would go to the coaches at halftime and tell them so they can be checked out by medical staff. Then take their shower, put on a boot, whatever. But this looks a lot like AB being more in the wrong. Given his history, I would side with the Bucs coaching staff on this one. Imo, Brown likely said some stupid shit to Arians or Leftwich or whoever on the sideline that set this thing off into full blown nuclear.
Edit: Even if Brown mouthed off, Arians probably could have handled it better but B.A. is an asshole too.

True, but diva WRs are not most players and AB is not alone as being the outlier here. I would bet OBJ would do the same thing. Michael Thomas fucked around all off season with his injury only to fuck over the Saints chances.

That Burfict hit had nothing to do with it & was merely a coincidence in the timing of it. Dude had issues long before that, which were reportedly evident his rookie year (Ryan Clark & Ike Taylor spoke on this). But AB was more derailed by the team voting Juju Smith-Schuster as team MVP over him, and he felt very slighted by it & forced his way out. The following week after Juju got the nod he started fighting with teammates & walking out on practice before ultimately holding out of 1 game and then getting benched the final week.

He had a crazy ego and it just got worse & worse as his stardom ascended. He grew out of control & he felt bigger than the teams & the NFL. Seeing all the things that he got away with only further compounded his ego and made him believe that his "brand" went far beyond the football field.

After his hiatus it appears the Bucs enabled him to grow out of control yet again.

Yea thats true but we were told a very different story last year when he got his umpteenth chance in the NFL. He spoke a lot about his mental state/rehab and getting his mindset more focused on being a part of a team & playing his part of something bigger than him.

Just doesn't really make sense that AB wouldn't be motivated to play for those $1m+ bonus incentives.

Sounds like AB was just being a bitch. They were losing and he didnt want to play anymore. Glad they came back and won without him.

You're right, it makes no sense. But AB is so messed up, nothing would surprise me at this point.

it's amazing how often people without a clue immediately focus on that ONE hit from vontaze burfict, lol.

Ian Rapoport said AB's still dealing with an ankle injury and wasn't ready to play. Saw the short clip in the NBA off topic thread, comment # 10666. He says AB didn't practice Thursday or Friday.

If there's any truth to what Rapoport said this changes everything. A coach shouldn't force a player on the field if he feels he's not ready.

Except tgat AB was just fine the entire first half and appeared to be normal. If he was really hurt, he shouldn't have been dressed and on the sideline, imo.

How do you know he didn't aggravate his injury during the first half? I don't think Ian Rapoport is known for giving out bogus info.

I had to go back & revisit that timeline because I wasn't too sure how it all unfolded.

2015 season playoffs was when the Burfict hit happened. January of 2016 to be precise. His seasons after that:

2016 - 1st Team All Pro, Pro Bowl. 2nd in receptions. 5th in rec yds. 3rd in rec TDs.
2017 - 1st Team All Pro, Pro Bowl. 5th in receptions. 1st in rec yds. 5th in rec TDs.
2018 - Pro Bowl. 9th in receptions. 11th in rec yds. 1st in rec TDs. (Juju beat him in both rec's & rec yds this year).

It wasn't until the week AFTER Juju Smith-Schuster was named Team MVP in 2018 that he had the verbal altercation with Ben during practice which caused him to walk out of practice & then miss the rest of the practices that week before showing up to the final game thinking he could play and the coaches made him inactive. Then he demanded a trade and the rest is history.

Why is the Juju vs AB thing not more discussed in regards to AB's derailment?

Bingo, and stories with dick lebeau and even back to college. Tomlin kept him, bell and many others under wraps. Crazy how well tomlin kept this controlled for so long.
