Most of the big money on the Yankee payroll doesnt even contribute to their winning.......Arod still on the books, Ellsbury gives them nothing......With the yankees minor league system and guys like Judge/Hicks/Sanchez/Castro/Severino/Montgomery, getting paid very little, and CC and Arod off the books after this season, the payroll will just continue to shrink, while the winning is just getting started.....So hold on tight to your payroll argument as long as you can, because the Red Sox payroll will be dwarfing the Yankee payroll faster than you could say "7 more years of David Price"

Yes it does contribute to their winning. Their money means they can pay those contracts and STILL field a high payroll team. It doesn't "cripple" them.And IF/WHEN the RS payroll "dwarfs" the Yankees payroll has never happened yet. The Yankees have dwarfed the RS plenty. But the other way around has not happened. And it won't. Not after next years FA class. Sox have NEVER crossed the $200 million threshold. The yankees have been above it since what 2001?
