McPhail might be close to both Gillick and Montgomery but I think he would want to can both Amaro and Ryno for a fresh start.

MacPhail is friends with Gillick and Montgomery. If they hire him then Gillick needs to go away for good.
Using MacPhail as another puppet will not help this team. I still don't trust this organization..
