Breakout potential: Can Spencer Long keep his starting job?

he had 13 starts missed one snap , didnt allow a sack , didnt get flagged for a penalty , and was ranked by PFF as the 28th overall OG out of 82 all in his first season as starter

exactly what more did we want out of him again ? that type of season doesnt bode well for the future either at OG or center ? perhaps we should re examine that pick and give it more credit eh dean ?

Never got the Long hate myself. He had a decent year and hopefully will continue to develop.

oh i dont know dean , how about we start with his listed production ? and lou gerhrig started out because of an injury to wally pipp as have numerous other athletes but what that as to do with the price of rice in china is beyond me

I never said he sucked. If we draft a center or pickup on in FA I think he would have a hard time starting for us. I think he is just a backup.

Seriously...why do you hate on Long so much when he was ranked 28 at the position in the entire league out of all guards? He was a second year player who did well in spite of your opinion.

we will see in training camp what happens. Don't hate Long just don't think he is a starter. There are a lot of rumors that he has to play center to keep a starting job. Of course I could be wrong, but we will see. gk, there was a reason why Kojo was taken with a high 4th round pick.

Who cares what he position he plays if he plays well. Russ Grimm played almost every position on the line at one time. Jacoby went from LT to RT later in his career. May played guard and tackle. The idea is to get 5 good guys and who cares where they play as long as they play well.

You just don't get it and never will. Taking Kojo has nothing to do with Long. You just hope a fourth rounder makes the team.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but what facts do you go to to formulate this opinion? You tend to make proclamations about players very early on and resist any re-evaluation as facts start to emerge. I had no idea Long played that well in his first year. This certainly changes my thoughts about him.
