Big10 HAS to think of splitting and merging part of its teams with the MAC Conf. Three major wipeouts on Big10 teams (MSU, Northwestern, and now Iowa) in the last two days. Considering you have non factors like Indiana, Rutgers, and Maryland as a part of the conference.....the BIG10 needs to rid itself of some dead skin. No bull...if I am Ohio State, I'm looking to find another, stronger conference to join. OSU can go 12-0 in the Big10 and no one will pick them as #1 because they will always beat a bunch of patsies, and thus, get no respect. Even beating the Wolverines is a given for OSU.

4. Big 10 Schools do it right???? Doug...ah, do you remember Rich Rod's sanctions? How about Penn State? Jimbo even reported 4 violations on himself this year. You also might try and recall the UM basketball scandal under coach Fisher.
5. "SEC it is win first"....lmfao. And in the Big 10 that 'winning' thing is what? 4th or 5th? If you believe that doug....you are so dumb, Vice won't protect you.

I am a UM alum... my sister is a MSU alum. I think both are great schools and programs.. that being said... MSU has a lot of guys that are either graduating or going pro. They don't have enough coming in to replace what they are losing. They are losing a ton of talent from the oline and dline.. they are going to be breaking in a new QB.. AND they are losing their top WR. I am sure they will be fine.. but expecting more than 8/9 wins next year is probably out of reach when you will have a new QB AND a few new O linemen. MSU should be happy with what they did this year... but don't expect them to be back in the top ten next year.. they will probably struggle to stay in the top 20 with all their losses that are coming.

The hardest thing for schools like MSU that are solid programs that can win titles here and there.. is the fact they can't compete on the regular for top national recruits. They are going to live off regional recruits and developing underrated talent. You can win here and there like that when the talent is there regionally... But you are not going to have long stretches of dominance like Alabama/OSU/USC/UM can have. Michigan with Harbaugh can walk into any school in any state and compete with schools that are close to home. He has already started to move into SEC territory. OSU has been getting top talent out of Florida/Georgia/Texas for years... Obviously Alabama does this. When it comes down to it... There are a handful of programs that have a perfect storm of high level coaching and facilities that can pretty much get any recruit they want unless the kid grows up with a dream school. MSU isn't going into the South Florida area and beating out Miami or FSU for top talent... UM and Ohio State are and will continue to do so. Can you win when you can only get the 4+ star recruits regionally and not nationally? Yes.. But can you keep the talent level stocked long term? Much much harder to do.

Dantonio is a great coach.. but when he goes up against other coaches of his caliber that have larger budgets, better facilities, and more college winning tradition.. he is only going to win so many of those battles. There is a reason why a guy like Saban leaves MSU... its not because of money.. its because coaching at LSU or Alabama is much easier to recruit at.

Harbaugh's first season should probably gain him a ''B'' rating. A 10-3 record was better than most expected, and his team got into a better bowl game than UM fans figured they would. I think most fans (outside of a Sportshoopla buffoon) would have been satisfied with a 7-5 season record and any bowl game. Losses to MSU and OSU hurt recruiting and alumni support, but were not a surprise. Also, rival coaches figured out the Wolverine defense as the season went along. Next season will be a bigger test. He has a good core of players coming back, so more will be expected out of the Wolverines. His first recruiting class will be analyzed as well. Add to that, Jimbo will have to work on some new tantrum moves for his sideline show for next year. Sadly, improvement for the Wolverines might mean a 10-2 regular season....and maybe a loss to a SEC team in a bowl game.
