better pull John Smoltz and Dennis Eck from the HOF, can't count relief pitched innings. Got to only go with their single best season to judge players.

Jeff Francour wants a big contract.

well, I would like to use the 2009 seasons for Mauer vs Vmart..if we get to pick single seasons to compare players.

This is fun thinking like Vice...

Jesus Christ man.. really? If I was to use these stats you would be calling me out so hard.. yet you defend it. Its hilarious. I don't need to say anything... You are making an ass of yourself by even remotely suggesting you can compare innings thrown as a reliever with innings thrown as a starter.... Flat out.. Simon was shittier than Pelfrey last year.. you know this... the only reason you say different is because I took the side of Pelfrey. You literally are arguing this for no other reason than to disagree with me. Its funny... A great example of why you are not married.

I am pretty sure the most recent season is more relevant when deciding present value... not one from 6 years ago.. but what ever... LOL

I would somewhat agree with this. I am an asshole for continuing to even remotely try to have a discussion anywhere near where da55bums posts.. because all he is going to do is take the opposite side of what ever I say just to argue.

I am pretty sure that da55bums was leading the charge last season making fun of how bad Simon was.. yet here he is.. claiming he is better than Pelfrey... who clearly had the better season last year...

LOL at suggesting that using 2015's stats is like using numbers from 2009... Can someone ele here please tell bums how stupid he looks posting shit like that? Preferably a Royals fan so he will sit in the corner and think about what he said.

I'm impressed with what our new GM was able to get done. Granted we didn't set the world on fire with our bullpen additions, but they are all upgrades over what we had. Francisco Rodriguez scares me a bit, because he has logged a lot of innings for a reliever. I still like the addition.

Justin Wilson can fit in the 7th or 8th inning, same with Mark Lowe. If Rondon ever gets his head out of his ass -- our bullpen could be solid this year.

Loved the signing of Zimmerman. He has his blow up games, but I think he will like pitching at Comerica. Pelfrey pitched great early last year, but fell off in the 2nd half. He will be an inning eater at the back end of the rotation.

Detroit needs to hope VMart can get healthy. If he can -- I like our chances of turning it around. If not -- it leaves a big hole in the lineup.

And congrats to the Royals for winning the world series. After the way the fans treated Miggy on his triple crown run -- I'm glad they got the job done and gave their fans a championship. Now trade us Wade Davis please.

Irrelevant straw man info.

ERAs over relief innings are almost always lower than ERAs over innings for starters, and W-L for relief appearances is meaningless. You KNOW this, bums, yet you used career stats because it supported your Simon > Pelfrey argument. To see you still trying to sell your POV is hilarious.

discussing Pelfrey vs Simon, is hilarious actually. Which garbage man picks up trash better.

For what it's worth, I don't think using career stats or last year's stats only is a very intelligent way to project what's going to happen next year or beyond.

I also don't think debating between Pelfrey/Simon is very intelligent. Who gives a fuck? They both suck and I'm glad neither pitches for the Indians.

You don't see me on here starting up arguments about who sucks worse than Lonnie Chisenhall because it doesn't fucking matter.

The Tigers have the money to get better than either, that's the sad part

I AGREE. But then why post the Smoltz/Eckersley nonsense. It's completely apples & oranges.

You are talking as if Pelfrey is going to be relied on to carry the staff. He was signed as a back end of the rotation starter, to eat innings.

And Detroit spent money on a starting pitcher -- Jordan Zimmerman. While their owner has the money to sign anyone they'd like -- there is still a limit to the amount he will spend.

The fact people are even arguing over the signing of a #4 or #5 starting pitcher is ridiculous.

It really isn't. Simon isn't going to be in anyones rotation.. so its a moot point. If he is on a roster it will be as a reliever.

The only reason Pelfrey is slotted into the #4 spot is because they want to be able to limit Norris's innings count. Norris is 10 times the pitcher and will have much better numbers. That being said.. Pelfrey is basically a #5 starter... and you don't spend big money on #5 starters... not even the Dodgers or Yankees do.
