Bro.. You lost here.. you have to choose between being a WAR/advanced metrics defender or your team... You can't have both. The Royals players suck by WAR and regular stats.. which is why they aren't going to win a title.

By this standard... the Tigers are the 6th best team in baseball.... The Giants #1... and The Cards #8... and you think it reflects true reality... go back on seasons past and show me how many times the team with the highest WAR won the WS.
You're so, so, so lost. I am not going to continue responding to arguments that were waged 15 years ago. I have better things to do than argue something that has long since been asked and answered with research.

Huh? The Royals do just fine in virtually every WAR driven category outside of their rotation. And much of their "woes" have just as must to do with idiotically starting Alex Rios over and over again. Hint, Cueto and Zobrist are big upgrades. So yeah, I can definitely have both.

Good night, delusional and jealous Tigers fan. Have fun flooding the ALC Thread with garbage again.

LOL... spoken like a man that doesn't want to admit his made up stats look stupid. Not even a Tigers homer thinks they are the 6th best team in baseball.

Cueto is a big upgrade.. he lost to the Tigers because your team couldn't hit with RISP.

I wonder what the Royals record is vs teams with records above .500... they can't seem to beat decent teams... Astros, Yankees, Jays... all are winning the season series so far... are the Royals winning a single season series vs a playoff possible opponent?

ok, "factman", lol

1) Royals ranked #4 in War offense.

2) Royals rank #1 in Defense- if you add 2nd place and 3rd place they still don't beat the royals, lol.

3) Royals buillpen rank #4- along with other contenting teams and reason Tigers have never won and rightfully fired DD who couldn't figure out something so simple.

4) Ventura - 24 yr old, 2nd season in mlb, winning mlb record, higher ranked prospect than Norris-but he is washed up already.

5) Royals have shot at it all and you just hate that, especially after they got further with less payroll and better decisions in one season as the Tigers did for 8 years spending a ton., topping it off with $173m for an under .500 team. Sure you know by now that any GM on the planet could have done what DD did,

6) Royals winning series over LAA, Pit

7) Royals have the largest lead over their division than any leader, but as the Tigers learned winning an AL Central title in the weakest division in baseball doesn't amount to post season success.

8) you just have to bash the Royals, if they don't win it all, you can say you were right, DougVice. Good odds, they are in your favor. I can say the Tigers won't win anything this year, not even a WC, I love those odds. Last year you helped the Royals a ton, they keep better the more you talk.

Pimping Castellanos makes me smile because he is leading the great Mike Moustakas in RBI, HR, Triples, and BB's. If Castellanos sucks... Face it bro... Moustakas SUCKS too.

while Moose leads Nick in BA, Runs, SB, OBP, Slg%, OBP+, less strikeouts, less GDP, TB, etc...I am sure Runs are less important than RBI's, lol.

With those strikeout numbers, Nick will be a bench player for years in the majors...errr, hold it, usually bench players are good defenders. well, I am sure after keeping Inge and Raburn around, he will start in Detroit. well DD would.

Ventura was never ranked in the top 20 prospects in baseball. His highest ranking was #35. Norris is #18.
Wow... Royals are winning a series vs the Angels... and you had to go to the NL to find another playoff contender that they are winning the series against... LOL

Tigers are not eliminated from anything yet bums. If at the end of Aug the Royals division lead is only 5 or 6 games... I would not be so confident.

It really must bother you bums that Castellanos is leading Moustakas in so many MAJOR offensive categories. It REALLY must bother you that Moustakas BA is dropping so alarmingly fast that my prediction of .250 is right around the corner.

John Lamb was also ranked #18. He's a Loogy/#5 prospect who's lucky to be even considered a prospect at this point. His change still sucks. His cutter won't save him at the MLB level. Prospect rankings are funny.

WAR does a much better job estimating a player's value than some RBI stat heavily linked to where you hit in the order.

?????
Moustakas hits 6th in the batting order of a first-place team, and has 39 RBI in 412 plate appearances. I don't need fancy stats to tell me he's left a crapload of runners on base.

He has batted 2nd every single game he has played until Zobrist was aquired. And that took a game or two + a knee contusion in Toronto.

Moose... seriously... Moustakas has batted .245 with runners in scoring position.. he leaves men on base all the time. He did it 3 times yesterday alone. You can pull any fancy stat out you want. He sucks driving in runs.

I will agree with you on one thing. Prospect rankings are mostly hot air. Devon Travis was never a highly regarded prospect. He is a rookie of the year contender. Kluber was never a highly rated prospect... he won the CY last year. I can name names of guys highly regarded in prospect lists that bust but it would fill a page. Prospect rankings are nothing more than bragging rights for fans that haven't even seen the kids play for the most part.

I just love when da55bums posts stuff like Ventura being a higher prospect than Norris, because he either doesn't look it up.. or is just a clown.... My guess.. clown.

Any stat geek that thinks BA with RISP isn't a legit stat never played baseball or is ignoring reality. Defense alignment change with runners in scoring position, stress of reacting in the clutch changes ways batters approach an at bat, there are so many things that make batting with runners in scoring position harder, you have to be ignorant to say it is the same as a normal at bat. Some hitters respond well... some don't. Its like shooting a free throw with the game on the line or shooting a free throw in the first quarter... its NOT the same.
