Norris is already the best SP on the Tigers.

true and before last season, he wasn't even a prospect. Should be able to get quite a few SBs after he walks them on though.

Either him, or our closer.

Who could very well be in the rotation next year.

Wilson? wouldn't hurt an worse but he seems to be a good reliever, don't know if you want to mess with that.

I have to say though, anyone who shaves with an ax and lives in a van with that much money is crazy enough where I can't withhold my support.

Since we're back to being MLB's most hated team, may as well have fun with it again.

and 11 1/2 in front of the Tigers

Yeah, that does take the sheen off a series that I was really looking forward to a couple months ago.

Not this year.

baseball America

prospect status

pre-2012 #91-has crappy season
pre-2013 not ranked-has crappy season
pre-2014 not ranked-has great season
pre-2015 #18-has crappy season

The guy went from out of the top 100 for 2 seasons for having horrible seasons, not because of injury but lack of command, then just jumped all the way to #18 after 1 great season.

Minor league number 4.08 era with a 1.387 whip...now look at Shane Greene's. Even Drew Hutchinson had 1 great minor league season and keeps struggling in the pros, John Lamb, Duffy and Ventura are up and down and they had better minor league careers.

Norris has had 1 great minor league season and all the rest have sucked. There is a reason he wasn't a prospect his other minor league seasons.

moving Wilson to the starting rotation would be similar to moving Wade Davis or Hochevar to the rotation. Not too many pitchers can John Smoltz it. Wilson was an up and down starter early in the minors and hasn't been a starter in 4 seasons. Be happy he could be a great reliever.

Crappy season? He was 5.0 years younger than the average AAA player. That's very significant. Also, a 3.97 ERA in A/A+ at age 20 is crappy?

Age is a big factor in prospect rankings, and for good reason. He's hyped because he has four pitches and some scouts see him as having three potential plus offerings (fastball, curve, slider) and having a #2/#3 type ceiling. His command issues stem from a delivery inconsistency. Tigers have had success with mechanical issues before (see Sanchez and Scherzer). We'll see.

Exactly. The dude is 22 years old. Not concerned about a "crappy minor league season" when he was 19. He was rated the #3 LHP prospect in all of baseball prior to 2015.
