I think Rosario is holding him back. Rosario is better defensively, and faster. Arcia struggled with the outfield in 2014, and his slow start with the bat in 2015 did not help with coaches. Again, they claim he needs to work on hitting lefties.

I do think they should call him up. It is his turn.

Pierzynski just rubs me the wrong way. Never liked him. He would bring a better bat, a lefty one at that, and a good PH when not catching. But then if we are PH catchers we would need to carry three. Not a bad idea, and if you have lost faith in Suzuki, then a good idea.

Is either Adam Walker or Max Keppler a lefty?

Kepler is.

Rosario hasn't taken 2 balls in an at bat that I can remember in about 10 games. The guy makes Arcia look like he's got Bonds patience. And Arcia also draws intentional walks.

We let Santana play bad D. We can't keep having sub .300 OBPs in our lineup like Suzuki. Santana and Rosario.

You don't need 3 catchers to pinch hit. Teams do it all the time late in games if they actually have a catcher capable.

That's another thing that blows...our bench. Arcia and Aj would help that immediately

2nd to last. Apparently it's not that big of a deal when your bullpen's ERA is 2.17. Probably wouldn't fare too well in the playoffs, though.
Oh, second to last!?!

Hell, Bums was right, the starting pitching is the almost the same as last year....

Or not.

Can't overwork a bullpen like that and expect it to stay top notch.

Yep to be top notch, have 3 cy young winners or maybe even have 2 cy young winners. Arguably the best rotation to go into the post season in two seasons and get knocked out. Having great starting pitching really made a difference when the pen just gave up the games anyway. That plan has worked out so well.

He still could win over 20 this year, but it sure as shit wont be baseball games. Maybe 20+ games of chess against his big-titted special lady friend?

Seriously, I think it's that ego of his that won't let him learn to pitch without that nasty fastball.

It's too bad, I really liked watching him pitch. Oh, shit. Who am I kidding? He seems like a dick. I'm glad he's turned to shit.
verlander looks razor sharp tonight...just saying

soooo all those years of breaking one off in the Indians has you sour...now after a major injury and needing a few starts to get back on track..verlander is a tad off...so you jump up and down and hold your winkie with glee? how do you look in the mirror?

Deflection won't help eat innings.

Eventually you'll realize how stupid your "same as last year" comment was.

feel free to explain the difference how Shields would have brought anything statistically different than Edison. the rest of the 4 sps stayed the same. I really don't see anything different statistically.

now injuries on the other hand are killing the SP innings this season. That has changed, but to start the season, swapping Shields for Edison, ehhh...started the season same as last year. minus 30 innings, if both duplicated, which only 1 is.

228.2 innings in 2013.
227 innings in 2014.

Let me know when Volquez hits either of those marks.

agree, 30 innings...provided Shields would have matched that total this year.

while the BP added Hochaver and Madson--- gave up 30 innings got 2 better bullpen guys, seems to do well in the win column.

He's 18-16 with a 4.41 ERA in his career vs the Indians. That's hardly "breaking one off."

In fact, Verlander has lost more games to the Tribe than any other team in baseball, and that 4.41 ERA is the highest of any team he's faced more than ten times.

I get a kick out of how absolutely fearless you are when it comes to saying stupid shit.

I literally cannot understand what you're trying to say in any of these sentences. Drunk, or ESL?

3 year average heading into 2015:

JS - 228 Inn / 3.29 ERA / 1.20 WHIP / 121 ERA+
EV - 182 Inn / 4.24 ERA / 1.42 WHIP / 84 ERA+

All things equal, heading into 2015, I don't think you'd find a GM that would have chosen Volquez over Shields.
