It's great to see Jenkins ask a HOF to help him with his conditioning. I'm not surprised that Crabtree never bothered to ask Rice for advice or help with his conditioning. I hope that Jenkins will eventually be the #1 receiver that the Niners have been coveting.

I agree. Crabtree hasn't exactly made his name synonymous with "work ethic". On the other hand, work ethic is a big reason why we drafted Jenkins. Baalke is making it clear that he (and Harbaugh as well) want strong character figures on the team.

Besides, why would Jerry Rice ask Michael Crabtree of he wants to go play in the hills? It seems as though Jerry does make himself available, so if Crabtree wanted Jerry's help then it seems it would up to Crabtree to ask for it.

Not sure if this was directed at my post; if so, that's what I meant. Crabtree didn't ask and that's why he didn't get the GOAT help.

Oh no, not directed at it, inspired by it. Your post is spot-on. If Crabtree wants Jerry's assitance he can ask for it.

I almost want to say, its a near complete assumption that Crabtree won't be with us for too long after his rookie deal... I have a feeling is all.

Where was Jerry Rice for the WRs before?

We became relevant and all of a sudden he's back?

Not trying to stir it up for the great one, cause what Jerry Rice says, you do. But didn't see him reaching out to the WRs before(nor did I hear of any WR reaching to Jerry on the flip side)

That's exactly how I felt after reading it...

Jerry wants to be part of the "whosss got it better than us" squad.

Or maybe this is the first WR he thought would actually be worth the help.

Or maybe Jerry wanted to separate himself for a while after he retired. Wanted a break from it all.

+1 i think he wanted to get away for abit and did want to seem like he was hovering over the wr's after him but he has always been open to help if the wr asked D Jac reached out and still follows rice's off season program to this day

Concerning Crabtree I don't recall Rice every offering to take him to the hills or any WR for that matter.

Jenkins was the first that I know of with Rice offering to help.

Also not sure if it plays a role but Rice was one of the guys representing an agency trying to get Crabtree to sign up with them but he obviously turned them down and decided to go with Parker so no telling if Rice was a little burned by that.

To be fair, Crabtree didn't work out with anyone much less Jerry. Remember he held out missed a big chunk of the season? If I was Jerry I probably wouldn't be excited about him at the time either.

E.T i could work with during the GDT, but Stank?

I wonder what context would I use for, "He Stank it up there!"

ok, would think Owusu has familiarity with what Harbaugh runs. don't know about who's more polished now?

if you had said Owusu has a chance beyond this season, wouldn't have replied. what caught my attention is when you wrote THIS season.

I think the big question will be is some defender going to tap Owusu on the side of his helmet and cause another concussion. Those things can make a player very fargile.

Rice is just talking in my opinion. He'll never take Jenkins to that hill because he's an old man now and if Jenkins couldn't beat him up the hill I'd be shocked.

Owusu is unlikely to get into games, how is he going to have better stats than Jenkins?

don't think he has to worry about helmet slaps this season?

Is Jerry Rice on record saying that Crabtree has never come to him for anything? I don't care a whole lot and I don't clamor for certain players to seek out other specific players. This instance being one of them. I just have started to wonder right now if this is one of those things where a bunch of people have assumed something just because there hasn't been a big story covering it.

As far as Crabtree goes. Working out long, hard, etc., has never SEEMED to be an issue for him as far as I know myself. Working out the right way in many people's eyes and doing things that a majority of people think is right MAY be an issue or that might be a better topic, however. Spending more time in the Bay Area and working out with people that more players on the team work out with is something that goes with that. Again, I don't have a major problem with that myself because I don't know enough of both sides and I can't possibly begin to debate the positives and negatives of both sides.

I think he'll get into games and I think he'll contribute this year. Moss is just as likely to flame out as to contribute, same with Ginn. I think Owusu beats out Williams, that leaves Manningham and Crabtree unless I'm forgetting someone. If Owusu stays healthy he'll play
