Dude had like 20 tackles last year. Most teams play a nickel as the new "base" defense due to so many 3-WR sets.
Sure, they save about $1M or so, but clearly they felt he wasn't going to contribute much with the addition of Dansby.
I bet that 90% of the fans totally forgot he was even on the team.
Bengals wanted to give him time to latch on with another team. I can respect that. If he was a high priced, highly sought after guy, then I think he would have been cut a while ago. Since he's at the end of his career, after the Dansby signing, they realized he's better off moving on.Oh I agree. Just didn't think the cap savings were so substantial that we could'nt have kept him around for depth. My issue is mostly with the way the article flaunts saving 1.4 mil like it was some spectacular move. Cause the Bengals are totally up against the cap after all.
Very much so.I think we all expected this. It probably could have happened after the Dansby signing, but at that point they hadn't been able to assess Marquis Flowers injury situation or PJ Dawson's commitment. One way or another this was going to happen - The guy didn't play much last year and he wouldn't play much this year.
