my biggest concern is, if we get a lead will we go conservative allowing the giants to stay in? not sure if vernon can have 2 games in a row where he doesn't drop anything. crabtree is gonna have to step up or our passing game might not go anywhere.

i'm expecting gore to have a huge game. he's due for a couple big runs.

He had a couple of big runs last week, not sure what you mean by he's due? Maybe you mean he hasn't had a 100 yard game in a while? I think last week was a great day for him, like 89 yards on 14 carries, no drops in the passing game, plus I didn't see him whiff at any blocks.

To add to the Gore topic, I don't think the run game will be very explosive with all this rain they're talking about. I think we'll just run to keep them honest, while focusing on the short passing game.

I think the Giants will sit in zone coverage and make Alex beat them underneath in tight coverage. We are not a vertical team so we don't really go deep often. That means we will need some slants and screens and for that to happen Crabs and Gore need to catch the damn ball.

The Giants are a good team and they do play vertical like the Saints off the play action. Goldson needs to scheme like he did vs the Saints, pretend to sit in the middle and then make a break on the ball on either side. Can the Smtih brothers do it again...I think so.

The one thing I can think that hinders us is experience, the Giants have been here, we have not.

I think this term "playoff experience" is over used a lot of the time. Its still football, the only difference is the pool of teams are better in the playoffs, as well as in the case of the Super Bowl you'll have two weeks to prepare for a team instead of one. We already played the Giants, we already know that they are a good team, they were that day too, we were just better. Everybody is talking about how well the Giants are playing, they were playing very well when we seen them during the season. They had just took over first place and was on a hot streak and was supposed to be the game that knocked the Niners back to "reality" when we faced them. Sounds like the same team to me, playoffs or not.

Good point, at some point you throw it out and play the game. Interesting fact I saw:

"When the Giants drop back to pass on 60 percent of their snaps, they’re just 3-7 this season including their Week 10 loss to the 49ers (61.4 percent). But they’re 8-0 when calling more than 40 percent run plays, including all four games in their current win streak. "

Why the Giants need to rush the 49ers - Stats & Info Blog - ESPN

If we shut down their run (a good probability) we can take away the play action and make them play like the Saints, one dimensional.

Hate is probably too strong of a word to use, so I'll say that the bolded is probably one of the worst stats that I've ever seen be taken into account. My gripe is of course you probably have a losing record when you pass 60% of the time, YOU HAVE TO PASS when your losing. Thats the only way to try and get back into the game. Then to go a step further, of course you probably have a winning record when you rush at least 40% of the time, your putting the game away. You don't throw passes to stop the clock when you have a lead late. Give me a break, jeez!

I think the outcome will be in doubt with two minutes to go.....I also predict my nerves will be completely frayed by the time Sunday is over.

I expect the score will be similar to the last game unless rain is falling. The more rain, the lower the score. My only concern is how our O-line holds up. They hold up, we find a way to win. They pressure Alex repeatedly and we're in trouble.

Speaking of quarterbacks, by my count we still owe them one damaged QB to repay them for Joe Montana in 1991. I don't want him dead, but I wouldn't mind a highlight reel to offset the Marshall hit on Joe that's shown every time we play the G-men.

I'm whippin' up a huge sized dose of football hate for the Giants and trolling their fans hard on the ESPN boards.

This WILL be epic blowout of a mediocre 9-7 Giants team that doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs.

I agree that when down you have to pass....my point was to show that if we can make them one dimensional what can happen.

That's got to be the corniest line I've ever read on a sports message board. Some square bragging about being a troll. This is crazy! I seen that you were trolling on the Saints board too after the win. You should read what I posted after you posted that GARBAGE.

Are you the dude that was Cali Kid on the Espn board last season, that kept crying about everything and threw a real life tantrum and said you weren't a 49er fan anymore? It would all make sense to me now if that is you.

My point is that the only way to do that will be to get a big lead, like last game, otherwise they are going to try to be balanced.

he missed picking up blocks. he played well when used last week, but he didn't have a big game for a frank gore. he had a big game for a brandon jacobs, thats about it

I think you are thinking of Cocoa who threatened to become a Cowboys fan and perhaps he did - Cal1Kid on the other hand lives in SF and is a die-hard fan.

Your right. I don't know why I thought it was that screen name. I knew it started with a C.

My bad Cali Kid, no disrespect, just human error.

Calamity's BOLD prediction

Aldon Smith squeezes 3.5 sacks....

Rogers will return a pic 6.

Alex will throw for over 220 yards and 2 TDs.

Gore will break off a 40+ yrd TD run.

Another thing: this chatter that the "Giants are running the ball better" doesn't account for the fact that they've been running while ahead late. Absent that condition (and I think that's a fair assumption) we should shut them down. They'll still try, but they won't succeed. Their play/action fakes aren't going to be nearly as effective as they were vs. the Snackers.

We hope they think they are good at it, keep trying, and when they fail, still think they can crack one, and then fail again. I usually am ok with Skip because I think he comes prepared, but when he cited the return of Ahmad Bradshaw as a reason we lose, it makes me want even more for them to force it. They can get some runs on us if they pick their moments, but if they force it, they'll be playing into our strengths.

Calamity, I see what you just did. You always predict one TD less than we end up getting from Alex. Well, I still wish you predicted 4 total. It's not too late to change your prediction.

I wanted us to score a TD on every possession, but I realized that was being greedy and unrealistic. Now I want us to score a TD whenever they score (TD, safety, or FG) and a field goal every time they turn it over or punt. And for us to have the ball one more time than they do.

I don't think Cal1Kid is on this board; or, if he is he has tamed his 'almost' cazic-esque distain for Alex.

Well well well... it seems some DOPE doesn't like my kool-aid IV posts. Maybe if the DOPE wasn't so self-medicated he'd find the excitement of the 49ers return to glory... exciting! Maybe even exciting enough to troll a few hapless Giant fans into a froth.

Listen DOPEY, football is a game. So is an occasional troll on opposing fans. It's called "smack talk". You think football players are being polite and respectful on the football field? Hell NO! They talk the foulest smack you can imagine.

So please, put down your bong, clear your head, and try to learn a little about fandom and the game of football.

PS... Hey kids, JUST SAY NO.
This has been a public service announcement. I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
