Lamar Jackson is a blast to watch. Very much like Vick I'm rooting for the guy, I just don't think it'll last. I called him a bust, but I'd be very happy if he proves me wrong (his style would change football forever, much like Vick).
How is that different than any other QB. All of them can take a shot or two or three standing in the pocket. How many games has Rodgers missed the last few years taking shots while in the pocket (or scrambling around it). No matter how you play if you have the ball in your hand there is going to be 11 grown men on the other side of the ball that mean to do you harm. I think you stand far more of a chance getting hurt standing still and absorbing a hit you didn't see coming than you do actively running and determining how you will take a hit.Agreed...as much as I'm not a fan of that brand of football...at some point Jackson is going to take a hard shot or two or three and he's not going to pop up and get ready for the next play.
But in the interim, he is fun to watch.
I was maybe 13 at the time but I remember that comment. I think I could hear the producers screaming through his headphones. I don't think Howard was racist.... just drunk.

When I read this comment...Well I just had to laugh.when i first read the story, my immediate thought was, "wow! so @Montalban is one of the guys on the 49ers' radio broadcast team??! neat!"
Absolutely it would. I agree on intent too, he just seems like a guy who tried sounding too smart for his own good and said something that isn't necessary.Obviously he should not say that, but this is interesting. What if he just said he is helped out by the dark uniform and didn't mention the skin color. Would his comment be treated differently? I like to try and infer intent and I don't think he had racist thoughts in his mind when he said this but I am of course only going off my reading of the story. Lest my comments be misconstrued, I'm also not stating I agree with him.
He was wrong, but was he wrong?
30 years ago maybe it would have been more pertinent. But these guys have all played multiple black QBs in their career (namely Russell Wilson twice a year) so it just seems like a lame excuse. He was wrong, but was he wrong?
Someone will go for his knees like the Rams did with Wentz when they couldn't stop him. What was funny about that one is even after they tore his knee he threw another touchdown on them.Agreed...as much as I'm not a fan of that brand of football...at some point Jackson is going to take a hard shot or two or three and he's not going to pop up and get ready for the next play.

Russell isn't that dark and his uniform is bright puke green.30 years ago maybe it would have been more pertinent. But these guys have all played multiple black QBs in their career (namely Russell Wilson twice a year) so it just seems like a lame excuse.
Name three running (not mobile) quarterbacks who have had long, injury-free careers.
