I see.

So why do teams bother paying managers and coaches?

why would a team have just one hitting coach or just one pitching coach?

these guys usually have their own guy in the off season anyway, and most likely one with a different philosophy.

i can see needing a manager to fill out the lineup card and make pitching changes, but thats about it.

I don't understand. Are you saying that teams don't have enough pitching coaches, or don't need them at all?

I'm saying each pitcher has his own pitching coach in the offseason, so having only one during the season is pointless.

Either get rid of them, or have each pitcher bring his own, like a 1099

same with hitting coaches.

Then the coaches will have some accountability for a player's shitty performance.

I've said it before - for a team with as much talent as the Nats have to not be running away with that circus act division, the manager should have been fired before the All-Star Break.
Kinda hard to fire a manager when the team's in first place, but the writing on Williams' wall has been there for quite some time. He's as clueless as it gets.

I wonder why GMs agree to pay these guys?

Cards pitching has been dominant all year but they are a bit vulnerable in the early innings. The Cubs have tagged them for a lot of runs at least 3 times this year by my count in the very early innings.

He's been made to look better in comparison to some of the other winners in the division, like Ryne Sandberg, Fredi Gonzalez, Terry Collins, and whoever is managing the Marlins this week

If you guys were to, say, choke away this division lead, wouldn't that be bigger than the Mets' 07 collapse? You've pretty much lead wire-to-wire, and sometimes by a lot

Lol! I believe it, Hu. That team seems to have all the pieces this year and basically having Cespedes fall into their laps was a stroke of genius/luck. If Boras can shut his big yap about Harvey, I think the Mets can go all the way.

I don't know. The NL Central probably has 3 of the 5 best teams in baseball. It would be remembered for sure but I don't think it would be seen as an epic choke. The story would be more about the Pirates and the Cubs because the media would be pimping either one.
