I am good with that. Same $$, and probably the same effectiveness, but it basically just gives the Giants a 1/0 option.

Not really fair for him to say "Big time" injury prone. He had one significant injury, but has pitched 30+ starts in 6 of 7 other seasons.

Byrd would be a LF / #4 OF with Blanco and Aoki.

That would be a pretty stacked 5-man OF. Although I agree that it would be quite crowded.

Gotta disagree there; other than 2013 he's been pretty durable. Starts by year:

In my mind, when you've been eliminated from defending the title, you're an ex-champ.

I think I'd rather have him locked up in a one year deal worth more than a two year deal worth less. Flashes of Marco Scutaro's three year deal go through my head.
