You would simply push the divisional series back 1 day from where it is now.

I understand the reason they have the one-game, and sure, there's drama. But would it be that much less drama if you essentially have a Game 5/6 and possibly 7?

I don't think the divisional series should be pushed back a game. I'd like to see it start the day after the WC game. Used to be one day between the last game of the season and Game 1 of the division series. This year there's three.

Word. Generate all that playoff pursuit excitement over several months and 162 games, and have it end with a one-game playoff? It has to be three, at a minimum. Team A might have the best ace but Team B might have the best pitching staff. And that is just one scenario. Kinda fucked up.

I think the benefits of making it best of 3 outweigh the downside of adding 1 more day. The ALDS would simply start the same day as the NLDS, which already has 4 days between the end of the season and the start of the divisional series.

Exactly. I've been saying this for years now. It is a joke. IMO it should be a best of 3 and if you don't want to do that then go back to the old format. Make the playoffs and your fans may not even get to see you play a home game. Absolute joke. This isn't the NFL. If you supposedly make the playoffs then your fans should be able to see you play at least one game at home.

i get it, but at the same time the point was just to punish the wc team and basically force them to use their #1 or #2 guy. And not be able to set their rotation.

But then you have like the Sox/Rays in 2013 where they got to use price in the WC and then could start him in game 2 on regular rest. Which was just total BS IMO.

WC teams should play the following day against the division winner.
