Have there ever been any studies on SDIs? Is there any correlation to a skill, or is it completely coincidental? I would think that it is about 90% coincidental, 10% (max) skill. However, I am not sure if the hitters or the pitchers are the ones displaying the skill portion of the equation.

Don't know how you'd measure it.

Weird thing, though. Through today, the Giants had a 74%/26% SDI/non-SDI before the ASB, and the exact same percentages post-ASB.

In 2013, they were 80.4%/19.6% pre-ASB, and 70.1%/29.9% post-ASB, for a season total of 76.3%/23.7%

In 2012, they had 76.2%/23.8% for the season
