One thing I was thinking about. If you shuffle rotation around at the end. Say we are out of NL West race but have WC locked up.

Do you consider pushing Peavy's start back, bumping Petit up and using one game to be filled by Kickham/Bochy/Heston.

This would set up.

Peavy starting in the WC game. It's risky to not put your ace out there, totally get that but Peavy has been great at home. So he starts there and if you win the home WC game, you have Bumgarner on the mound for first game of NLDS

Intriguing...might depend on who they are going to play, which of the 3 teams in the hunt have more lefties or righties, who hits Peavy better, etc. Strategery!
