Maybe the players are just not happy. Something is amiss, something that can be fixed.

We just lost 2 of 3 to the team with the worst record in the National League. And with our two best pitchers starting two of those games. Can we now, please, stop uttering nonsense about playoffs?
Who has said anything about playoffs since like 2 weeks ago?

Patrick Bailey had >60 plate appearances in August and an OPS lower than .200 He is the first Giant to ever do that in any single month

No one here. I just keep reading articles from local sports guys about the Giants’ chances to make the playoffs are getting slimmer and slimmer. I suppose they aren’t officially out of it, but we’ve seen this coming for a while.

Oh yeah, I don't think you'll see any more of that in articles. Their chances are under 5% now, at best.

From Baggs this morning:

But it’s a number that bears repeating. More than once. It might be the most important and revealing data point in an otherwise maddening season that has extinguished all but the slightest of postseason hopes with four weeks still to play.

I get that beat writers need to be positive and not to give up the ship until the ship is actually below the waves. But this is just pretending.

Exactly. No one actually thinks the Giants are making the playoffs anymore

According the the latest from Brisbee in the Athletic, the team mindset is still pretty positive, good clubhouse vibe, they are disappointed in the season but feel good about next year

And the Giants attendance had the 7th biggest jump in MLB this year from last, we're back to prepandemic levels.

Disappointing year but lots to look forward to, I'll be optimistic again next spring, especially if they sign you know who (or an equivalent)

I will say the attendance bump, at least from my standpoint, was driven by marketing

I attended 10-12 gms this year with my 3 buds in the nose bleed section for $5/seat. We had 2 games where we paid $15, but that came with a free premium beer!

Upper deck was laden with school kids (which is great), and I talked to several of the chaperones - they were getting in basically for free.

Great they are driving fans to the park, but attendance may not be the best metric. I'd be interested in season tickets and gross receipts

All said, I'm optimistic with the roster trend, looking forward to year over year improvement. If we retain Snelk, we should sniff a '25 WC

Also from that Brisbee article,

Yaz just hit his 100th home run, in his 672nd game. That's the 12th fastest to 100 in SF Giants history (!)
