Kontos is really coming down his last few appearances. Yet another bullpen blunder.

The bad SP for the first half of the season is now coming home to roost.

No one could keep up that pace....regression to the mean is a thing.

To be fair the swinging bunt that made it first and second 1 out was a crappy 'hit', game of millimeters

29% win probability. Feels much less than that.

Seems like this entire road trip, the opposition has gotten their lion's share of crappy hits. Except for last night's slug-fest.

This is exactly why pitching is more important to hitting. If the bully fails, it kicks the bats in the nuts. If the bully is consistent, and the SPers keep the opposing team somewhat quiet, the opposing pitching will likely eventually make a mistake.

Good Pitching >>>>>>>> Good Hitting

It is amazing how fast hot streaks can turn into cold streaks (and vice-versa) in this game.

Yes which is why I've never felt this team can win the division (possible of course but not likely IMO) and will have a tough time in the playoffs. All this 'best offense in the league' stuff won't look so hot versus playoff pitching (or even in August)

As we said, they aren't as good as when they went 12-1, and they aren't as bad as they are going to look this month (and already do look)

Who can we trust in the bully right now?

Strickland (not concerned about yesterday)
Osich
Lopez?
Romo?

Kontos - hit the wall?
KCYa - very sketchy the last couple weeks
JA - bad all year

Can't just write off Kontos with a couple bad games, he's gotten guys out all year. Casilla too. JA is done.

I feel most confident with Strik. KCYa for the most part, Osich was great but SSS. Javy I trust, but he's pretty limited. Still have faith in Kontos, once he fights through this patch.

JA has been way to inconsistent from batter-to-batter, can't trust him yet. Romo has been up and down. Vogey is a big question mark.

I want to see what Broadway and Black can do. They could be mainstays next year.
