The force is strong as Giants blast the Brewers 15-5 and Sweep

It was Star Wars Day at the yard today and the force was strong for the 2014 SF Giants. They came out blasting once again putting 15 runs on the board and 31 runs total for this 3 game series which they swept a over matched Brewers team. Bumgarner started and gave up a early run but settled down to pitch 6 solid innings giving up the lone ER on 5 H , tallying 7 strikeouts.

On a day when the Giants were without their Luke Skywalker (Posey) with a day of rest a new kid who the force is strong with Susac stepped in and took on the dark side with a big bat. Susac went 3-5 with 3 RBI's and did a good job catching behind the dish. Pence and Panda were a combined 7-9 with 5 RBI's and 6 runs scored. They scalded the baseball and Panda is more confident then I have seen him since the 2012 WS. He was flexing his muscles during one shot in the dugout . Pagan was 2-5 and caused havoc for pitchers who had trouble then concentrating on Pence and Sandoval who lit it up. Panik added a late double for 2 RBI's.

It was a wipe out of the Brewers who lost Gomez to a wrist injury trying to swing at a pitch. The Giants have suddenly gone 6-1 in the homestand and pulled back into the West race as the fans went wild in what seemed like a week long toga party. Hopefully the force stays strong as the Giants head to Colorado where the baseball flies. Bats need to stay hot and the pitchers have a 7 game quality start streak going. Giants go for lucky number 7-8 wins in a row on the Labor day holiday as they finish a suspended tied game and then the regular scheduled game. Bumgarner is now 16-9 for the year and he is in the running for the CY Young award.

Happy Flight aboard the Millennium Falcon tonight and may the force be with them.

I have my share of full diapers, to be sure. I even have some very hidden pet peeves and stats I bring out only once in a while.

And I like the chatter here, until it gets personal. Not in a friendly way of talking chit with one another, but calling one another's fandom into question.

We have a bunch of games left, and we don't KNOW how it is going to wind up. If you have said last Sunday after the 15-6 shellacking by the Nats that the Giants would go 6-1 against the Rox and Suds, no one on the board would have taken that bet.

I am glad they are playing better, and winning games. I hope that doesn't change from here on out.

During April/May/June, the Giants had a 30-11 stretch. Just countering your 6-18 stretch.

Still don't see your point, unless it's "no team that's gone 30-11 has ever missed the playoffs."

Seriously, that was decent research and I commend you for it.

It doesn't "disprove" my contention that the Giants should have been sellers in July. In the long run, they'd be better off. However, they did not sell and instead picked up PeaveMe. So, we hope for the best.
