Positives on the season…

Bart seems to have “found it”.

Seriously, I think that’s all I got. Webb has established he is good, but I am not certain he is a true #1. Doval has shown flashes, but he isn’t ready to be a closer on a contender. Craw and Belt are done. The churn hasn’t produced anything this season.

Really I am TRYING. But I think Bart is the only thing that can be listed in the positive column for the season.

And just as I say that, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bart go in protocol tomorrow.

Shit.

I don't know, that is like the 3rd or 4th time I can recall that Gonzo has made a critical boneheaded baserunning gaffe. Send him to AAA for the rest of the season. We don't need bonehead plays!
Remember when we were pimping him for ROY?

Gonzo getting an earful of Kap…

He looked Ike he would have preferred to be doing the backstroke in a lava pool than sitting there having that convo.

Feels like just yesterday when Prior and Wood were breaking in. Then I realize that happened before most of the players on the field were born.

At one game at the Arizona Fall League a few years ago, the Red Sox had an up and coming player named Rusney Castillo. The kid was full of himself, and strutted around like he was Babe Ruth. Anyway, in the 1st inning, he hit a weak grounder to 2nd and was easily thrown out. But when he hit the ball, he barely even left the batter's box, just took a step our two down the line and turned to the dugout. The manager (and the teammates) were furious at this prima donna. The coach yelled at him, and it was heard by all 250 people in the stands. The gist of the punishment was that he had to run around the edges of the field, down the baseline, along the warning track, back down the baseline. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. He ran until the 5th inning! I am sure the players union had something to say about this "punishment", but I am pretty sure he never dogged it out of the batters box again.

It's beyond embarrassing. He's a "professional". Little Leaguers know this. There is no place in the game for these kinds of repeated "mistakes". He's not good enough to look past these faux pas.

A couple of years ago, I saw a (then) current picture of Mark Prior. That made me feel old.
