I tell you what, I wouldn't mind Gallo on this team, .209 average be damned. He's good

Gallo's .320 OBP would be 5th on the team, .500 SLG would easily be 1st.

His defense is also actually pretty solid. +2 DRS in the outfield this year. Cutch is at +2 DRS

He's one of the poster children for the current high risk high reward swing for the fences strikeouts be damned philosophy.

Last year, 41 HR, 80 RBI, 198 K

This year, 34 HR, 77 RBI, 169 K

It would drive me nuts, but if can drive in runs? Sure, why not? But it isn't the Giants' Way, and we will be left in the dust unless we adapt.

Yeah it's definitely not their M.O., but when you really look at his entire game, he's quite valuable. Kind of like how a speed guy gets in the pitcher's head, Gallo is that way except with power. You just can't make a mistake around this guy because he will make you pay. And in the field he isn't going to cripple you.

edit: speaking of speed, he's also a smart baserunner and not a total slog
