Who was the last Giant pitcher to get a pinch hit, before Bum's today? Just found out.

Side note: I'm trying not to get giddy, Pence going down is huge
They had that on a graphic right after his hit.

Holy Sh1t .... just looked at the rest of the schedule. Looks like it's all in our hands ... a real difficult schedule .... after today ... 4 with Pitt, 3 with the Cubs, 3 with STL and 3 with LA. Also noticed that we have with 3 with LA ... at home before our closing series with Col. I'd like 7-6 for this 13 game run ... and would just love 8-5

Our starters this year are better (on a 4-man basis) than last year. But there is no explaining last year's team. That was truly a fluke win. '10 and '12 can be explained. Not '14. So our goal should not be to just be the same team as last year.

That said, '15 is NOT the same as '14. The pitching, as #weaklink as it may be (and for the record, I agree that it is), it is still better than '14 AND we have an elite offense (when healthy). That is something we did not have last year.

Problem is, it's a 5 man basis during the season. #weaklink

But the playoffs use a 4-man rotation, and the point of that exchange was the playoffs.

And the larger point is that you have to GET to the playoffs. BTW, the doyers have gone to a 4 man rotation now, to ensure Shaw and Greink pitch against us in LA.

In fact, a PQS of 5 (dominant).

Correct. Let's look at that stat for the month of August, and let's call a PQS score of 4-5 dominant, 2-3 mediocre, and 0-1 a shitshow.

8.1 Heston -- shitshow
8.2 Leake -- dominant
8.3 Cain -- shitshow
8.4 Peavy -- dominant
8.5 Bum -- dominant
(at this point, the month was looking hopeful)
8.6 Heston -- shitshow
8.7 Vogey -- shitshow
8.8 Cain -- shitshow
8.9 Peavy -- dominant (in five innings)
(at this point the month was looking shitshowy)
8.11 Bum -- dominant
8.12 Heston -- mediocre
8.13 Vogey -- dominant (in five innings)
8.14 Cain -- shitshow
8.15 Peavy -- shitshow
8.16 Bum -- dominant
(at this point, hopeful, but fairly shitshowy)
8.17 Heston --shitshow
8.18 Vogey -- dominant

Totals: (dom-med-ss)
Heston (0-1-3)
Leake (1-0-0)
Cain (0-0-3)
Peavy (2-0-1)
Bum (3-0-0)
Vogey (2-0-1)

Cain to the bullpen/DL should help, but remember that two of those dominant starts were of only 5 innings (Peavy, Vogey) so their PQS data should be interpreted accordingly. One dominant starter, a couple of middling starters (Peavy, Vogey), a guy on the DL, and a couple of helpings of poop.

We shall see. The saving grace is that the doyers have a similar situation, except they have two aces and a couple of middling guys followed by poop. If Heston can find his control, Vogey can grindgrindgrind, or Leake can get healthy and excellent for 8 starts, maybe. Cain is a lost cause this year.

But the Dodgers have their bully and their manager. I think the doggies are VERY catchable...

The Giants are not flawless. No team is. Especially when said team is in the years where they SHOULD be paying the toll for past successes (Cain, Lincecum, Hudson to a degree).

We are in very good position for either the division OR the WC. We may come short, and there are lots of places to point fingers if that happens, but I am VERY happy with the situation we are in right now.

I'm not displeased with where we are at; not at all.

I am displeased with the SP...I don't like AL shitshow games.

Become a Cards fan.

This Giants team is not the 2010 team. Come to terms with that, because that is the fact.

You seem to have a bar that is at the 2010 Giants or the 2015 Cards, and that simply is not reasonable.

I admit that I have a strong preference for a team built on SP. The Cards rotation is enviable.

I have come to terms with it; I just don't like it.
