When Posey went down, 2011 was over. Now 2012 is. It was going to take all of what we had to make it work. Now only a true miracle gets us to the playoffs.

Well, that's where I kind of differ from a lot of fans. It's not like Timmy is pitching bad today because he's not trying to step up. He's pitching bad because this year, at least, he is bad.

They are all out there trying as hard as they can. They don't try harder when a guy goes down injured or whatever.

In baseball results have a lot more to do with luck than most care to admit, indisputably in the playoffs.

When the best hitters make outs 65% of the time, it's pretty random when they will string together some to win a game. The difference between a squared up HR off a fastball and a popup or foul back is so small as to be almost randomly meaningless.

You gotta be a good team to make the playoffs. After that's it's almost literally random who wins.

I respectfully disagree gents. I never played sports at a professional level by any stretch of the imagination, but I played on some good club/traveling teams and high school ball. When somebody important went down, that game definitely had "more" meaning/importance to me (even if it was incrimental). I definitely felt the need to "step up". Now, sometimes that got me out of my game and then the results didn't back up what I was trying to do.....but that's neither here nor there. I don't question Timmy's "want" to step up, it's just a bummer that he didn't do it.

Well, at least today shows that the Giants got lucky in 2 aspects. Not signing Melky to a big contract before this came out and not signing Timmy to a big contract this past offseason.
