I respectfully disagree gents. I never played sports at a professional level by any stretch of the imagination, but I played on some good club/traveling teams and high school ball. When somebody important went down, that game definitely had "more" meaning/importance to me (even if it was incrimental). I definitely felt the need to "step up". Now, sometimes that got me out of my game and then the results didn't back up what I was trying to do.....but that's neither here nor there. I don't question Timmy's "want" to step up, it's just a bummer that he didn't do it.

I wonder if extra adrenaline hurts or helps a pitcher.

You grew up a Whitesox fan, and in Chicago, right? It's only natural that you'd be a pessimist.

And a Giants fan after that..that's a tough go

By some miracle of God, Timmy's only given up 4 runs and we're still in this game. Let's go Brandon, Blanco and Brandon!

Nah, its not about predictions. Its about attitude.

Pessimists may be right but its still not my cup o tea

Free country, we all root how we root. It's just sports.

Strasburg is at 70 pitches. Nationals should probably take him out to save his arm. I recommend they put in Storen to finish the last 5 innings off.

Exactly right! But think about it, unless you're a Yankee fan in the middle of one of their dominant runs (and there are other examples, 70s Steelers, 80s Niners, etc) it doesn't matter who you root for you pretty much aren't going to win it all most of the time.

Well I did move to the Bay Area in 1988 so I picked up the Giants at a good time. I used to root pretty equally for both, but the Giants took over when I married my rabid Giant fan wife. I still follow the Sox some, not as much.

Yeah, but we grew up in California.

It's tough to follow a team with A.J. Pierzynski on it.

Totally spoiled by the Niners while growing up, which set me up for total heartbreak by the Giants.

LOL. If he played that good for us we'd love him. Rooting for laundry and all.

Only on your MLBTV app, hidden in the garage.

That makes sense. I wonder how 'fun' it is to be a Yankee fan, where you are so spolied that you can't even enjoy a season unless you win the WS. And even then it's kind of, 'oh yeah sure we were supposed to win, on to next year'.
