Another ace pitches, another win. Yes we are in the easy part of the schedule but this is the model for us to contend. We need all the aces we can get ie sign Snell

Not advocating him being optioned (yet) but he is in a pretty bad prolonged slump. He hit .228/.296/.304 in July. In August, he came into this game 1 for 26 with a walk and 8 Ks.
Bailey is well past being 'optioned' if he's in a slump dude

Not following. You think he shouldn't be optioned if he's in a slump?
Well, maybe overstated that. I guess if it's bad enough and they think it would help a trip to the minors might be needed. I was making a distinction with Doval, who I could see losing his closer role. I don't see Bailey losing his spot as primary catcher.

Got it.

Bailey brings more value than just his bat so I doubt they would send him down. Not like Casali taking the primary role would help offensively. He may be almost as good defensively but his bat is still worse than Bailey's offensive.
I would guess that Sabol's defense would be a noticeable drop off and his offense hasn't been that great so far at the big league level. Reetz' offense is unknown at the big league level (not enough playing time to assess) and I have no idea how he grades out defensively.

Bottom line, it would take a lot more to option him compared to Doval. Agree with you there.

Fitzgerald stealing 5 bases in the past 3 games has me wondering, what are the chances he posts a 20-20 season. I think his home run production may not get him there but it is a pretty cool idea to think about the possibility.
