Add a 16th team to each league, and do away with divisions. You play everybody 10 or 11 times during the season, you would have three teams you only play 10 times. At the end of the season top six teams make the playoffs with 3-6 and 4-5 elimination games. Then the remaining four have a normal playoff. Home field is swapped every year.

I am a purist in these regard and feel that all divisions should be disposed of. But TV contracts and big money will decide what direction sports take, not common sense or history.

I'm torn. I see your point completely, and really don't disagree with the "purist" position - in many ways, I feel the same.

I think you have to decide what you think the playoffs are for. Is it to decide which team is actually the best that season? If that's the case, it'd be best to do away with divisions, leagues and playoffs. All teams play the others an equal amount and the team with the best record at the end of the season is the champ - a playoff if there happens to be a tie.

Personally, I love the drama of the playoffs and the playoff races, so even if I had my choice of going from the current system to two leagues, two playoff teams one champ, I would go with what we have now. The drama is just too good.

Two cops just came to my door to serve a warrant on a dude who used to live here. I knew they wanted him because I got a letter from his parole officer with a handwritten "you better call me, Jeremy!" scrawled on the outside of the envelope. The cops asked me for ID and left quietly.

By the way, I think it is stupid for the All-Star game to count for anything. Most of the good pitchers don't even get into the game and the most a pitcher can go is 2 innings. That doesn't sound like something that should decide HFA for the World Series.

Agree on the home field 'tardery. I know Selig was trying to make the game more interesting, but he's gone now and we can go back to the alternating dealie like we used to have.

To do away with Interleague games you would need an even number of teams in each league. To do that you have three choices

1 add a team to each league
2 subtract a team from each league
3 move either Houston or Milwaukee back to their original league.
