Beggarly shared that a few days before trade deadline in 2012, Giants-A's had a Balfour trade lined up. Then on July 30, A's game went extra innings and A's needed Balfour/reliever on July 31.

I don't recall you mentioning that. I grew up in St. Anthony in NE Minneapolis. My dad taught in the Math/Education department at the UofM. Spent lots of time at Williams Arena for hockey and hoops, and eating in Dinkytown. Vescio's was our go-to place.

I believe my dad's office was in Northrup Hall. He also taught at University High School early in his career.

Interesting. I lived on Hennepin, near Loring Park. Close to what is now Block E and the Target Center....and of course Target Field is there now too. I didn't mind the winters in my 3 years there, but the summers were unbearable.

The Minnesota Air Force is a real thing in the summer, and it can get pretty humid.

Target Field is a nice yard. Went there in 2010 when it opened.

I used to ride my bike down Hennepin and over what we called "The Singing Bridge." Cool in a car, nerve-wracking riding a bike.

My dad retired early and moved to a lake near St. Cloud.

When I visited a few years ago, he took my son and I to a game in the Metrodome. An atrocious venue for baseball, I thought. Felt like being inside a pinball machine.
