This has gotten comical. The Reds are pinch hitting their scrubs, and those guys are hitting the crap out of Kontos. Keep Kontos in for about 70 pitches. Should be about two innings.

I prefer torture to this. There ought to be a mercy rule.

And then two more games tomorrow? Ugh.

Team showing no heart, no talent, no fire. You let a team like the Reds come in and stomp on you like this, the first game of the series?!? Who had to travel to SF? Who got to stay at home? It is awfully nice for the Giants to extend some of that nice West Coast Hospitality, but really? This is completely overdone. (As Kontos gives up another hit to a .200 hitter and another run, now 10-0.)

But what is the point of drafting better hitters that won NOTHING than drafting better pitchers that won TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS?

To keep payroll reasonable it wouldn't hurt to draft an above average position player once in a while so you can keep the payroll in line.

Think about it If there are 8 positions on a team and there are (it depends on how you define above average, many in the middle are close to one another in performance) say 12 above average players times 8 positions, that is 96 above average players every year in the majors that have been for the most part drafted. An average of 3+ per team every year where are the Giants above average position players... we have two Posey and Panda if he stays healthy and nobody (in the near future maybe 2 to 3 years away) ready to come up soon.

You know some teams may have five or six above average position players.

you're my dude, sf r the best. Sure it sucks losing and baseball is a game which gives many chances for criticism but how quickly we all forget how much we would have given our left foot to see a Giants world championship in our lifetime.

Maybe it's complacency, maybe it's perspective, but even though its bad, it really isn't that bad.
