Since Sandoval's extremely ugly April, he has been far exceeding the .300, .820 OPS career numbers (something around .320, .880 OPS). Is it fair to say that he was pressing early in the season when the Giants were in the heaviest talks in contract extension? Maybe. They curbed talks until the offseason after failing to reach a deal in April.
I've noticed that he's had an awful time batting right-handed, and it's been like that for the last few years IIRC (the only season he seemed to do well was in 2009 when he was hitting everything. I remember he hit a walkoff against the Nats right-handed). I wonder if he should just make the switch to batting left-handed all the time.
