Everyone opened their milk jugs early

I'd love to post a pic of milky jugs, but there'd be a big SportsHoopla if I did. We'll have to settle for :

Duvall is really a third-baseman - if Duvall does well for the rest of this year (i.e., much better than he has so far), expect the Giants to not give in to Panda's obscene contract demands.

When he is in Fresno, he stands near the 3B bag when on defense. To say he "is really a third-baseman" is a GROSS over-statement.

How many? Not many - including Pablo (for the last several years at least).

Dude, he's a career .295 hitter (give me five points); a career .819 OPS and a career 125 OPS+. 1.2 dWAR this year so far.

He's a stud. He deserved LOTS of money.

Not to mention Panda has the ability in the playoffs to hit even the best pitchers well placed pitch. In the playoffs even though I felt way back over 20 years ago that walks were so very underrated by many fans and experts, an aside Panda does walk at not a bad rate, walks are much harder to come by because you are facing some of the best pitchers. If you have some disciplined hitters before and after a hitter like Pablo who can hit a pitch in an area that a pitcher would like to put a pitch for extra bases or like a couple of years ago home-runs it can change a series in the playoffs or World Series. That is walks are more difficult to come by in the playoffs or World Series, so the value of the ability to walk goes down a bit during the playoffs... Not by a great amount but you may be facing pitchers who only walk one or two guys a game.

I actually think that Pablo Sandoval is the kind of player needed for if/when your team gets to the playoffs....Is there any guarantee that he will do well during the playoffs...No but would you feel comfortable facing him in the playoffs in a critical situation knowing that he could hit any of our pitchers in any situation.

Really just a disappointing game all around...

Biggest goat is definitely Stamos though...Tron a close second.

I know who the biggest goat of the thread is...

Sack up! Together we're Giant!

Yep. Especially when you consider his age, and his competition. Outside of Longoria and Machado and maybe a couple others, he's gotta be a top 7 or 8 3B. I could look, maybe he's top 5.

He might not get paid by us, but he will get paid. And the numbers will look obscene, but that's because all the contracts are now (thanks Dodgers!). Remember how we blanched at Pence's deal? That looks like a total bargain now.

Can I have a couple of those? Biggie's pitching tomorrow...

It does feel like one of those series, where both teams are gonna score a ton of runs.

We start by banging on Cliff Lee, they clobber Vogey...long summer series at Denver East....

It'll be some wild games I think, and probably not tzill-approved

He's a "career" .295 hitter because he has had two MONSTER seasons. The others were good, but no .300 AVG, no .500 SLG (hell, not even .450).

A team with a weak 3B will throw him lots of money - I hope it isn't the Giants. I would hope to never again see the Giants give (almost) *anybody* a "Zito contract".

AP says Vogey was suffering from a bout of "the crud". Seems like the whole clubhouse has come down with this at one time or another.

A team of Unity...Giants win 7-4 in Philly

This Giants team is full of fighters and they fought in Unity tonight beating the Phillies in Philly tonight. The Bullpen was a big part of the game tonight going 6 excellent innings giving up no ER to shut down Philly and the offense put up lucky number 7 as they collected a front line winner 7-4.

Pence who has done a good job in the lead off spot went 3-5 with 2 RBI. Sandoval and Morse each had two hits. Blanco was 2-3 and Duval the Rook went 2-5 with a long HR to center. The Giants tallied 15 hits on the night.

The bullpen rarely gets the credit they deserve in ballgames and it's important to notice Kontos,Lopez,Machi,Affeldt, and Casilla who earned his 6th save for the jobs they did tonight. So far so good on this road trip as the Giants stay step and step with the Dodgers. Will Sabean make a move here soon with Pagan out and Cain on the DL? Stay tuned.

Tonight the bullpen shined and the Band of Brothers played in Unity.

Go Giants !!
